Associate Director, Forecasting & Analytics

Position description:

We are seeking an Associate Director of Forecasting & Analytics to impact the following three areas: (1) driving multiple aspects of Brand, portfolio and business development opportunity forecasts , (2) working on business analytics projects, and (3) assisting with general analytics for specific business development projects.

Candidate will develop robust processes and transparent forecast models for end user demand, trends, and risks / opportunities. He/ She will take part in periodic forecast meetings with the Brand Team(s) and senior management working closely with other members of Business Analytics, New Product Planning and other departments. The candidate will coordinate with various departments / functions to collect and validate information for periodic forecast updates. Success in this role is dependent on the candidate being highly proactive. The individual will be interacting with senior management and working in a fast-paced environment. Excellent analytics and presentation skills are required. High-level critical and strategic thinking is essential for success.

This position reports to the Vice President, Business Analytics


  • Forecasting and Business Development
    • Drive efforts to select the appropriate methodology to address the organization's forecasting needs
    • Create and refine brand and portfolio forecasts
    • Build strong alignment with internal customers for forecast models and outputs. Identify and manage key forecasting drivers to guide decision making.
    • Incorporate market assessments and patient-based models from New Product Analytics and Business Development into brand and portfolio forecast models
    • Drive the selection of variance analyses and key business indicators as required
    • Leverage secondary data sources, understanding their applications and limitations, to derive actionable business insights
    • Present findings and actionable recommendations to senior management
  • Competitive Intelligence and Analytics
    • Create presentations to assess competitive landscapes
    • Present findings and actionable recommendations to senior management
    • Translate unstructured business problems into analytical framework. Apply framework to uncover insights and actionable recommendations.
    • Apply evidenced-based thinking and teach past learnings to influence decision making
    • Design advanced analytics strategy, derive and communicate insights that inform key decisions and help optimize the business

  • Typically requires 10+ years of experience in advanced analytics /insights with a related bachelor's degree or comparable combination of advanced degree and experience. Experience should include a minimum of 2+ years' experience Biopharma. A broad scope of industry experience including Packaged Goods, Electronics, Health care is preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in critical thinking Experience managing multiple brands and/or franchises
  • Proven management experience with responsibilities including experience with budgeting process, strategic and tactical planning, and project management
  • Successful co-promote or co-marketing commercial relationships
  • Demonstrated experience influencing/leading teams in a cross-functional matrixed environment through strong collaboration skills
  • Vendor Management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, in addition to excellent interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Proven statistical and Mathematical analytical experience. Ability to utilize multiple software systems such as SPSS or SAS as a vehicle to manipulate data to evaluate ROI and commercial effectiveness. Experience applying data sources such as: IQVIA, Symphony Health, claims data and various pharma sets.
