Director, Search


The Account Director (AD) is responsible for leading a group of account teams and will report into a Group Account Director.  This individual is an expert in their clients’ businesses and in digital marketing. Account Directors have a thorough understanding of how to leverage the agency to bring innovative marketing solutions to their clients. Their responsibilities include building and growing strong senior-level client relationships, providing strategic direction to the account teams, maintaining the financial health of their accounts, scoping projects and developing staff.


External Relationship Management:

  • Leads and cultivates senior-level client relationships to achieve highest level of client satisfaction/retention
  • Is an expertise in our clients' brands, structure and industry and ensures our offerings are aligned with clients' objectives and organization
  • Leads quarterly business review meetings and participates in other senior-level client meetings (including new business pitches as needed)


Strategic Focus:

  • Leverages the agency's capabilities and expertise to bring innovative and creative solutions to help clients maximize profit and efficiency from their marketing spend
  • Organically grows business accounts by setting revenue goals and continuously seeking new opportunities to drive revenue by expanding our services  through a keen understanding of the clients' business challenges/goals
  • Creates competitive and breakthrough strategies and plans with the support of Dentsu Aegis Network’s strategy resources
  • Ability to anticipate future consequences and trends which translates into client strategies and plans
  • Understands and can articulate the Dentsu Aegis Network vision and strategy to clients and staff



  • Actively takes responsibility for the growth and development of Supervisors and Associate Directors; Ensures the overall team is performing at a high level
  • Plays a leadership role in creating a cohesive culture across all offices
  • Supports and represents external Dentsu Aegis Network brand through blogs, articles, speaking or attendance at conferences
  • Actively networks and promotes the Dentsu Aegis Network brand to attract, select and hire new talent into the organization


Financial Acumen:

  • Responsible for client’s billing activity, budgeting, expense tracking and media spend management to ensure that the financial portion of Dentsu Aegis Network’s relationship with the client is accurate and operates correctly



  • Consistently looks for ways to improve current processes or introduce new approaches that will contribute to Dentsu Aegis Network success



  • Ability to think strategically and identify and resolve problems in a client-centric environment.
  • Ability to nurture and retain client and employee relationships
  • Strong managerial experience, including experience developing and mentoring a team of client service personnel
  • Proven track record of successfully directing and managing client-service focused technical project execution
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with financial data and budgets
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and to develop relevant and realistic plans, programs and recommendations to solve client challenges
  • Strong technical understanding of digital performance marketing i.e. Bought, Owned and Earned products and services such as Search Engine Marketing (SEM), Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Social Media Management and Display Marketing
  • High levels of integrity, autonomy, and self-motivation



  • At least 6 years of client management experience working on large, integrated accounts
  • At least 4+ years of demonstrated success in leading an account team in the digital media industry
  • Extensive experience managing, motivating and leading account teams
  • Adept at managing client expectations as they relate to scope and delivery of service
  • Prior experience working with the financials of an account in a client-services organization
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other agency capabilities to meet common goals
  • Strong digital marketing background and familiarity with multiple channels
  • Bachelor’s degree required
