Data Support Technician


Overall Team Summary:

The Global Analytics and Operations team manages and supports the development and maintenance of Colspace, iAnalyze, Prisma, DDS and any additional tools or systems utilized on the Microsoft account.  The Systems and Tools team works with MSFT to understand their data needs and requirements so EMT can provide reports/data in the most efficient, accurate and agile way possible.  On the agency side, the team works with the Global Planning and Investment groups as a resource for system use and training.  The team also drives productivity improvements by addressing current issues and needs through ongoing system advancements as the business evolves. 


We are looking for someone who is passionate about getting data right! We need someone who loves unraveling back-end business logic and data problems in Datorama to improve high-profile client reporting. Our ideal candidate is comfortable working with both commercially and technically-focused teams, has effective communication skills to win over colleagues who are not yet analytics advocates.



Key Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Own multiple projects across a portfolio of clients
  • Business analysis; understand clients’ operations and objectives
  • Identify data opportunities and work with stakeholders to build new processes and analytical solutions that capitalize on these
  • Develop subject matter expertise in data flows across a range of technologies, including ad server, bid management tools, analytics platforms and databases
  • Advocate best practice in data vizualisation, interpretation, management and governance
  • Support and improve existing solutions; train others to help realise the tools’ benefits
  • Contribute to new business initiatives, supporting the team with analytical specialism
  • Partner closely with the wider department; working alongside the ad operations and consulting teams, you’ll collaborate to improve data quality and add value
  • Deep engagement with Developers to deliver on specific system/tool requests either from MSFT or EMT teams
  • Development of system and tools specs to ensure desired functionality is met
  • Ensure data integrity is maintained by conducting thorough systems analysis and audits
  • Development of Training materials and guides for each of the systems and tools utilized on the MSFT account
  • Drive continuous improvements across tools and systems
  • Conduct on-going global trainings for EMT tools and systems to improve user efficiency

  • Strong logic & quantitative skills, including analytical abilities and mathematical proficiency
  • Great interpersonal skills; ability to build and maintain strong working relationships internally and externally
  • Ability to translate user requirements into technical specifications, to manage multiple priorities, and to assess and adjust to quickly changing priorities
  • Strong attention to detail; able to determine why a number is right or wrong. A disposition towards solutions, not problems
  • Self-motivated & articulate in explaining technical concepts to a less specialist audience
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, notably;
    • Especially strong in Excel – data wrangling, pivot tables, macros etc
    • Strong in PowerPoint – data presentation & story telling
  • Comfortable working & learning independently, as well as in a team
  • Understand how we add value to our clients’ business
  • Ability to identify, understand, and manage the technical resolution of multiple data feed and reporting issues
  • Strong multi-tasker, organization, and project management skills
  • Ability to work effectively with 3rd party vendors
  • Excellent interpersonal, client service focused, verbal and written communication skills are required to support working in project environments with internal, external and customer teams


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics or related area required
  • 5 to 7 years of experience with analytical modeling in business systems analyses or database administration, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proficiency in digital analytics and tracking technologies
  • Experience with querying reporting APIs
  • Experience in SQL, R, Python, Hadoop and similar languages
  • Experience with Offline (Nielsen, Commscore) and Digital (Social, Display and Search) Performance Data and reporting required
  • Experience with marketing campaign management tools such as, Atlas, Prisma and DDS as well as other digital/marketing fields e.g. SEO, PPC or web development preferred
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Datorama, Qlikview, Tableau or ad servers (i.e.: Atlas, Marin) a plus
  • Agency experience preferred, but not a requirement
