Bioinformatics Pipeline Engineer, Systems

What you’ll do:

  • Create, maintain, and scale the interactions between the Bioinformatics pipeline layer and the other stacks that drive our business
  • Code, document, test, and support complex handshakes 
  • Work and learn among an extraordinary set of peers: other bioinformaticians, molecular biologists, and software engineers
  • Create at-scale solutions that directly improve the quality of our product and positively impact each tested patient

What you bring:

  • 5+ years experience in a similar role (at least 2 years in industry)
  • Passionate about writing clean, reusable, and composable bioinformatics code
  • Demonstrate excellent communication (written, verbal, and visual) 
  • Experience integrating Bioinformatics pipelines within complex industry or academic systems including workflow orchestrators, LIS/LIMS, the production Dry Lab, and various web-driven stacks 
  • Skilled in crafting meaningful, documentable, and supportable contracts at the interface between systems
  • Knowledge of testing at various layers including integration testing and contract testing
  • Capable of leading technical efforts
  • Experience working with data from a range of genomics technologies (esp. Illumina NGS and/or arrays) and molecular biology assays
  • Comfortable contributing to source code for large open source projects with Python knowledge required
  • Preferred: Experience with shared High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments e.g. S/UGE, LSF, and/or Amazon AWS
  • Preferred: Experience with Distributed Workflow managers, e.g. airflow, luigi, COSMOS
  • Preferred: Experience with utilizing and designing RESTful and RPC-style interfaces
  • Preferred: Experience with Docker or other containerization/virtualization
  • Preferred: Experience with CI/CD
