Signal/Power Integrity Design Engineer

Job Description
As a Signal and Power Integrity Design Engineer, you will be responsible for SIPI specification definition, modeling, analysis and verification for FPGA and SoC products. You will be part of an engineering team to work on the current and next generation product definitions and address the key design & methodology challenges. You will lead/participate in projects involving the modeling, design and validation of signal integrity & power integrity (SIPI) of current and future Intel PSG products. You will work closely with multiple teams across IC Design, Layout, Packaging, Product Engineer, Test Development, Application, Technical Service and Software to address the SIPI requirement from die, package to board levels. Your specific responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

Responsibilities
Drive and work closely with cross functional teams on package-die co-design development activities
Define package ball map design, on-die bump/pad arrangement to meet the targeted performance and cost
Work with package designer to define package electrical design guideline and specification to meet the signal and power integrity requirement
Work closely with cross-functional team on every generation of product development in signal and power integrity, platform interfaces (PCIE, DDR, Ethernet, NRZ..etc) :
Development of package and platform routing guidelines
Definition and evaluation of circuit design features required to support interconnect performance requirements
Drive and define the key enablers to deliver product landing zone for SIPI performance
Creation of signal measurement test plans and review of measurement results.
Passive and Active Correlation to drive input into the Derivation Silicon and gen 1 product
Characterization data validated against spec and collaborate fixes if needed to feedback on the next derivation silicon
Perform system level PDN and Signal Integrity analysis for core and I/O (EMIF, high speed SERDES, LVDS)
Select the most optimal decoupling cap strategy for die and package to meet the performance and cost
Perform frequency and time domain analysis for PDN and passive channel analysis
Perform Power Supply induced Jitter Simulation (PSIJ) to quantify the jitter impact on system performance
Define electrical specification to meet SSN, eye diagram, transceiver protocol and system timing requirement
Be part of the team to develop and enhance next generation product and methodology
Initiate new forward looking effort on design innovation to achieve better competitive product solutions
Define new methodology/approach to address new challenges along product roadmap (e.g. 3D package design)
Work closely with Product Engineer to define characterization and test requirements to verify silicon performance
a. Correlate silicon result with simulation result to better enhance the existing analysis methodology
b. Work closely with team members on silicon issue debug and resolution

Qualifications
Qualification :

  • BS/MS in Electronics Engineering or equivalent with minimum of 5 years working experience in SIPI
  • Good technical knowledge in PDN and Signal Integrity
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter and with the ability to multi-task across several projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of the following tools or equipment will be value added
    • Apache Redhawk and Totem, HSpice, Sigrity, Agilent ADS, Ansoft (HFFS, Q2D, Q3D), Cadence (Allegro, PowerSI, XtractIM), Cadence Virtuoso, Synopsys PrimeRail
    • Vector Network Analyzer (VNA), oscilloscopes, TDRs
    • Experience designing IO circuits, PLLs, DLLs, voltage regulators, or other analog/mixed-signal circuits.
    • Experience with high-speed signaling measurement tools and techniques: spectral analyzer, oscilloscope, TDR, VNA, BERT
  • Experience with statistical analysis tools and techniques: DOE, JMP, etc.
