In this position, you will be responsible for researching, prototyping and improving techniques used to train deep neural networks on specific hardware platforms. You will leverage your background in mathematics, statistics, algorithmic complexity and distributed processing to develop new methods for training these networks. In addition, a solid understanding of the state-of-the-art in both deep learning and distributed training will be required to be successful in this role.

This is an internship position and compensation will be given accordingly.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience would be obtained through a combination of prior education level classes, and current level school classes, projects, research, and relevant previous job and/or internship experience.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • The candidate must be pursuing a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or another related field.
  • Background in mathematics and statistics.
  • An understanding of computational / algorithmic complexity (e.g. Big O).
  • Experience in machine learning and training deep neural networks.
  • Background in several applications of deep learning such as object recognition, object detection, semantic segmentation, natural language processing, etc.
  • Experience in algorithmic implementation using a high-level, modern programming language such as C++ or Python.
  • Software development expertise with a demonstrated ability to write efficient, readable and well-commented code.
  • A basic understanding of distributed processing / computing.
  • A basic understanding of hardware architectures (e.g. processor-to-memory communication, memory models, processing bottlenecks, etc.).
  • A basic understanding of numerical quantization such as fixed-point and reduced bit-width floating-point representation of numerical values.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working toward PhD degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or another related field.
