IT Manager
Overview
Position Summary:
Ensures the streamlined operation of the IT infrastructure of the company in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. Plans, coordinates, directs, and designs IT-related activities of the organization, as well as provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of the IT team. Works closely with Senior Management of Information Services & Support, and with decision makers in other departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. Implements IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities:
- In coordination with the Director of Information Services & Support, leads IT operational and strategic planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
- Manages the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, and peripherals.
- Benchmarks, analyzes, reports on, and makes recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure.
- Oversees provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services. Works with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
- Under the guidance of the Director of Information Services & Support, directs research on potential technology solutions in support of procurement efforts.
- Keeps current with the latest technologies.
- Develops business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
- In coordination with the Director of Information Services & Support, develops and implements all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
- Develops requests for proposals on IT related projects.
- Negotiates and administers vendor, outsourced, and consultant contracts and service agreements.
- Practices asset management for IT hardware, software, and equipment.
- Manages IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
- Establishes and maintains regular written and in-person communications with Senior Management in Information Services & Support, decision makers in other departments, and with end users regarding pertinent IT activities.

Qualifications
Minimum Knowledge & Experience Required for the Position:
- University degree in the field of computer science and 10 years related work experience.
- Master of Business Administration with technology as a core component preferred.
- Certifications in Cisco network technology (CCNA & CCNP preferred).
- Strong technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems, including Windows operating system and other Microsoft Technologies.
- Strong technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and standards.
- Extensive application support experience with E-Mail applications.
- Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning and development.
- Excellent understanding of the organization's goals and objectives.
- Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures.
- Capability to manage a team of IT professionals including geographically remote locations.
- Strong understanding of project management principles.
