Definition

Provides patient care

  • Provides direct supervision of any mid-level practitioners contracted under the provider
  • Directs the medical component of the company's health initiatives

Responsibilities/Expectations
  • Provides direct patient care by:


    • Conducting routine check-ups to patients to assess their health condition and discover possible issues
    • Giving appropriate advice for healthy habits (diet, hygiene, etc.) and preventative actions to promote overall health
    • Conducting examinations to ill patients and evaluate symptoms to determine their condition
    • Comply with HIPPA rules and regulations

  • Remains current on policies and procedures relative to the practice of medicine
  • Abides by all laws and regulations regarding practice of medicine and prescribing
  • Responds to patient complaints and staff inquiries
  • Acts as a liaison in developing and maintaining close relationships with company staff
  • Provides stand-by weekday and weekend call coverage
  • Work with Employee Benefits on planning and implementation of corporate health initiatives
  • Evaluate and monitor program needs, identify unmet needs and revise services as program needs change
  • Problem-solve issues with other services to support the wellness programs of the company
  • Assist in Worker's Compensation questions and claims

Knowledge of:
  • Advanced principles and practices of modern medicine
  • Medical diagnosis and treatment
  • Community resources to effectively prescribe medical treatment
  • Ohio State Medical Board of ethics and standards
  • State and Federal Laws regarding informed consent, medical treatment and prescribing, HIPPA, safe and effective practice of medicine

Ability to:
  • Assess symptoms, make an accurate diagnosis, and prescribe treatment appropriate to the patients' condition and situation
  • Communicate effectively in both oral and written formats
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, patients, the public, other community providers, and other employees
  • Interact with and effectively treat patients from diverse socio-economic backgrounds

Qualifications:
  • Previous experience providing medical care is expected
  • Ohio State Medical License
  • DEA registration
