As Indigo continues to grow our presence in rice production through the close partnership with leading growers, we have a new need for a rice expert to help lead strategy throughout the entire rice value chain. From seed to consumers, Indigo is adding value by producing high quality identity preserved rice that is targeted at exceeding consumer demands for taste, texture, and appearance while being sustainably grown. The perfect fit for this position is someone who understands the ins and outs of the current rice value chain and is excited about the opportunity to re-imagine ways to improve it in order to provide buyers and consumers with better product and more confidence in how it was produced.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Set a global strategic vision, short-term and long-term plan for Rice
  • Map the opportunity and landscape of Indigo partnering with rice buyers
  • Identify sustainability premium for us to build into 2019 rice model
  • Learn and integrate into Indigo’s recruiting process
  • Build organization to support Indigo, including budget, hiring, professional development
  • Develop a team and is well-regarded as a strong coach and the kind of leader that the team is excited to work

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in the Rice Industry
  • Experience with both food companies and exporters preferred
  • Deeply understands the rice supply chain and its gap
  • Smartest, most senior rice expert
  • Has connection with a lot of rice buyers in the US and Latin America

 

Location: Memphis based preferred
