Microbials Product Manager, Europe

The Microbials Product Manager for Europe is responsible for creating and executing the Europe Microbial commercial product management plan. This person will evaluate the current ag input market as well as farmer and ag retailers needs and overlay this with our extensive library of microbials to identify how and where to position Indigo’s microbial products. The Microbial Product Manager will work cross-functionally aligning our R&D team and pipeline with the most relevant commercial opportunities, all the way to the front of the commercial organization coordinating go-to-market launches of new products with our Key Account Managers and marketing teams in each country.

This position will report to our Business Unit Head, Europe Crop Technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop & execute product and go-to-market strategies that drive Indigo’s revenue, profitability, and hectare footprint in line with Indigo’s strategy for Microbials, Indigo Carbon and Indigo Marketplace
  • Create / update Microbials strategy for Europe in close coordination with Boston Product Management team and Europe Sales & Marketing teams:
    • Evaluation of the current market, Indigo’s product portfolio, and identification of how to position Indigo’s microbial products to maximize sales and profitability
    • Identification of our niche and determination of how to target it effectively
    • End goal: be able to make specific recommendations such as, “this is the best way to use our microbials (ie- drought stress, lower nitrogen for carbon credit/regen farming, etc.)”
    • Actively participate in packaging design and marketing communication materials / events
  • Manage / supervise country sales & marketing campaigns to achieve commercial targets
    • Define / executes new market entry strategies and product launches
    • Define target customer segment and target customer leads
    • Define commercial and technical offer
    • Oversee all elements from R&S, Supply, Marketing needed to ensure commercial success
    • Follow-up with Country Commercial team to track sales campaign progress
    • Proactively anticipates issue and resolve problems to achieve strategy and sales targets
  • Develop business cases, P&L projections strategies that drive Indigo revenue & profitability
  • Manage third party partners regarding in/out-licensing of products and local / regional distribution agreements.
  • Contribute to the Technical Project Planning process by providing market signals to Microbial Offer Management so they can align R&D efforts with commercial demand.

Competencies:

  • Understands crop cycles (e.g. decision timeline and farm requirements). Deep technical / commercial agronomic understanding of the key Europe crops: Wheat, Corn to a level that helps the identification and valuing of grower problems, the guidance of the product development process, and the correct positioning and pricing of our Microbial offerings
  • Comfortable with ambiguity – comfortable making decisions from incomplete data sets
  • Self-starter with the ability to maintain flexibility in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years in the Agriculture Industry:
  • 3-5 years of agricultural product / agronomic marketing / product management experience
  • Willingness to relocate to Basel, Switzerland
  • Ability to travel as needed (15-30%)
  • BS/MS in a Agronomy and Business Administration
  • Fluent English, further European languages are an asset
