Indigo Partners Research Associate - Ohio

The role of the Research Associate is to deliver a great and seamless experience for Indigo Partners growers. Indigo Research Associates will work directly with forward-thinking growers that have planted Indigo product on their acres and are testing innovative technologies on their farm to determine the value they may bring. Activities will include field scouting, crop monitoring and soil sampling. Indigo Research Associates will also work closely with Indigo Partners Tech Services Representatives and Hub Managers to coordinate logistics (seed treatment / delivery, technology installation / implementation), ground truth on farm (as necessary) and perform any task to delight Indigo Partners growers with world-class services. These efforts will enable grower success by maximizing farm profitability, productivity, and sustainability.

 

Outcomes:

  • Collect and submit consistent field data to the Tech Services Representatives and Hub Managers including, but not limited to, crop growth, weeds, insects, disease, and other environmental impacts on the crop
  • Collect detailed, on-farm data utilizing precision ag technology and leverage for improved farm productivity, profitability, and sustainability
  • Collect and submit plant tissue samples for analysis
  • Coordinate seed pickup, treatment and redelivery of Indigo Partner growers’ seed
  • Coordinate delivery and installation of technologies on 500 tested acres
  • Learn to promote cultural practices that enable growers to achieve profitable yields above their historical average
  • Work collaboratively with, and take a leadership role in, creating a community of learning with partners associated with HUB location
  • Solve emergent problems in the field pertaining to equipment and weather

  • Willingness and desire to work outside and scout fields
  • Strong ability to relate to and communicate with all stakeholders and team members
  • Comprehensive understanding or desire to learn agronomy and row crop production practices
  • Loves continual learning, adaptable, and agile in approach - able to work in the Indigo system
  • Works as part of the Indigo Partners team to collect and submit consistent data
  • Able to utilize new technologies and tools to collect and submit consistent data; proficient with operating computers, specifically Windows and Microsoft

Experience:

  • Passion for agriculture, sustainability, and the Indigo mission and values
  • Crop and farm specific experience in the employment geography
  • Farming background or a strong knowledge of farming
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferred in science or technology-related field
  • Understanding of agronomy and row crop production practices, preferred
