Category Buyer, (INDIRECT) 

 Indigo improves grower profitability, environmental sustainability, and consumer health through the use of natural microbiology and digital technologies. Utilizing beneficial plant microbes and agronomic insights, Indigo works with growers to sustainably produce high quality harvests. The company then connects growers and buyers directly to bring these harvests to market. The company is headquartered in Boston, MA, with additional offices in Memphis, TN, Research Triangle Park, NC, Sydney, Australia, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and São Paulo, Brazil.    


  • Perform category procurement activities to support assigned categories and Category Managers
  • Strategic buying for Indirect category purchases
  • Preparation and analysis of proposals, quotations, and competitive bids, with specifications, SOW, MSA, Terms and Conditions; prepare award recommendations
  • Contract management and execution of POs and change orders
  • Supplier Relationship Management, including supplier rationalization and preferred supplier lists
  • Understand and follow purchasing policies and procedures
  • Maintain correct spend categorization of all PO’s as it relates to approved spend taxonomy
  • Assist with establishment of e-Catalogs
  • Partner with Finance and other cross functional partners to ensure operations are aligning with key business initiatives
  • Apply spend and market analytics to develop best Total Cost of Ownership TCO options for all projects
  • Escalate and report performance of suppliers for all active contracts
  • Assist with reporting requirements accurately and within the specified time ranges
  • Meet or surpass the business goals around savings, targets, timely deliveries, and customer satisfaction and report goals out to Procurement Leadership
  • Make suggestions for process improvements

  • Two plus years of relevant category buying experience in a Procurement role, preferably with operational buying experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred
  • Agriculture experience not necessary
  • Oracle or other ERP experience required, Oracle Procurement preferred
  • Intermediate to Expert VLOOKUP and Excel Data Visualization skills
