Payroll Administrator, part-time

The Payroll Administrator is a critical position on our People Operations team. You’ll be part of a driven and passionate global People team bringing your valuable experience to the payroll function. 

Reporting to Manager, People Operations and working with our Payroll Specialist, you are responsible for the complete preparation for submission of semi-monthly and monthly payroll in Canada, US, EMEA and APAC. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional seeking part-time employment and looking to expand their global payroll experience. 

Here’s what we’re looking for:

To be successful in this role, you possess strong integrity and excellent attention to detail. This role is very process-oriented and requires you to apply a consistent approach to procedure to minimize financial risk. You will have effective communication skills, both written and oral, and the ability to problem solve and work autonomously. You will work effectively under pressure in order to meet all required payroll deadlines with proven skills in organization and time management. You will exercise tact and sound professional judgment when working with confidential employee information and responding to employee inquiries.


Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Prepare for submission of all monthly and semi-monthly payrolls for 500+ salaried employees in multiple countries
  • Input all payroll changes including new hires, transfers, leaves, terminations and wage adjustments
  • Process all payment types including salary, hourly, bonus, overtime, retroactive, vacation and severance 
  • Input and maintain all taxable benefits and deductions including medical and dental plans, retirement savings plans, gym memberships, spending accounts and garnishments
  • Work with payroll providers to process all government remittances and reporting requirements including year-end
  • Assist the Payroll Specialist with system upgrades, automation of manual processes, reporting, new country initializations and other payroll projects and tasks as required
  • Assist in annual financial and payroll audits as required
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures

Here’s what you have:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
  • 2-3 years of Canada and US payroll preparation and processing experience with a mid-sized organization
  • Working knowledge of payroll-related tax information and remittances as well as employment and payroll legislation in Canada, Quebec and US
  • Practical experience with ADP Workforce Now technology or similar
  • Advanced proficiency with MS office software, particularly Excel and Outlook
  • Experience preparing financial reports an asset
  • Experience with HRIS software such as Namely or similar an asset
  • Experience processing payroll for employees in EMEA and APAC is an asset
