Project Manager

We are a security, technology start-up with corporate headquarters in Armonk, NY (Westchester County) and R&D and Manufacturing location in Boxborough, MA. As Project Manager, you will lead development teams in the execution of government-funded and internal R&D programs. Responsibilities and Characteristics:

• Lead cross functional project team(s) to complete deliverables for Government and internally funded R&D projects
• Interface with government and internal stakeholders for the successful execution of projects
• Collaborate with senior management to define project scope for the development resource planning and requirements
• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules and budgets and presents project status updates
• Manage project risks, develop mitigation plans and resolve problems impacting project completion, proactively resolve project issues and escalate to management when necessary
• Develop technical and financial proposals
• Follow PMI project management principles and practices
• Possess a solid understanding of the design and development process, including requirements elicitation, translating requirements into specifications and designs, and verifying those designs against the requirements using pre-determined acceptance criteria
• Ability to make things happen by encouraging and channeling the contributions of others; recognizing and addressing important issues in a timely manner, and acting as an agent for change and continual improvement when required to achieve results
• Leverage available resources and capabilities to execute and achieve defined goals
• Negotiate with stakeholders to ensure positive response and agreement, striving for win-win situations
• Experience with team collaboration tools and project management fundamentals
• Strong problem-solving skills and excellent attention to details

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical discipline (electrical, mechanical, software, etc.)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Formal course-work or training in Project Management; certifications in Project Management such as PMP preferred
• Minimum of five years of experience leading high complexity, multi-disciplinary product development projects
• Experience with complex product development (electro-mechanical/software) in a regulated industry environment (such as Military/Aerospace/Automotive), DHS experience preferred.
