We are looking for a Risk Management Manager for our team in Sacramento. The purpose of this job is to manage a team of Risk Management professionals in the identification and quantification of risk. This position exists to mitigate risk while contributing to the overall strategy, goals, and objectives of the Company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and supports client relationships
- Maintains a small book of business and provides professional risk management services to ICW Group’s clients.
- Develops and delivers safety seminars for small groups of ICW Group clients.
- Meets with Producers and agents periodically to strengthen company relations and promote ICW and safety services.
Engages in department operations
- Assists in monitoring fee company vendor to ensure quality reports and cost effective operations.
- Ensures Regulatory compliance for department in all states where the Company writes business.
- Partners with Underwriting and Claims to ensure effective customer servicing of accounts.
Directly supervises 8 or more employees within the Risk Management team and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. These responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; conducting performance and salary reviews; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; coaching, mentoring, and developing team members to further their skills and knowledge; creating and monitoring development plans; setting performance expectations/goals; forecasting staffing needs and planning for peak times and absences; enforcing department policies and procedures.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university. Minimum 2 years of experience supervising and/or managing a team. Minimum 8 years of experience in Risk Management or closely related field.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
CSP, CIH, CPE, CPCU or other Master’s Level designation preferred. In absence of Master’s level designation, ARM, ALCM or Bachelor’s level designation required. Valid, current driver's license is required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Excellent verbal communication skills and leadership skills with specific successes. Superior organizational and time management skills. Advanced level consulting and understanding of advanced risk management concepts. Microsoft Office 2013 including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical information including codes and regulations. Ability to respond to complex inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to compute rate, loss ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Office environment – no specific or unusual physical or environmental demands and employees are regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, and hear. Requires minimal to moderate level of car travel.
This position maps to the Manager/Director level.
This position operates in an office environment and requires the frequent use of a computer, telephone, copier, and other standard office equipment.
