Tax Reporting - Alternative Investments- Princeton ,NJ

iCapital is looking for an tax professional to join its Fund Finance team with a focus on tax reporting.  This role is responsible for all aspects of tax reporting for the funds which include the ability to:

  • Coordinate and oversee the fund federal and state tax returns and extensions
  • Coordinate and oversee investor Schedule K-1 and tax estimate reporting
  • Coordinate state composite return elections and tracking
  • Manage the collection and distribution of tax information from underlying funds
  • Assist in t in overseeing multiple third-party tax prepares in the review of the fund investment tax returns and preparation of K-1s
  • Review of the following forms: 1065, 1120/1120-F, 1042/8804, 8821, 8865/5471, 8621, 1099s, etc.
  • Review work papers for taxable income calculation and allocations
  • Calculate foreign/state withholding
  • Prepare wire payments or check requests for payments due to taxing authorities
  • Respond to federal and state tax notices for the funds and coordinate any payment requests
  • Mail the tax returns and extensions
  • Stay up to date with new tax regulations and reach out to tax firms to determine if funds are affected
  • Working knowledge of US FATCA and the Common Reporting Standard
  • Reconcile and resolve source data discrepancies with third parties

Requirements & Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA or Masters in Tax a plus
  • Strong Technical accounting and tax background
  • Understanding of investment partnership (private equity and hedge)/hedge fund tax reporting, US tax structuring
  • Motivated, detail oriented, and able to independently solve problems and manage several ongoing tasks
  • Well-developed oral and written skills
  • Proactive team player with a positive attitude
