What you'll do

Deep Learning for Ontology Learning

Project Description

Several AI challenges (62, 109, 165, 302, 353) and their research projects within IBM India Research make use of an Ontology. And nearly all of them expect the Ontology to be provided to them. If an Ontology can be automatically created from unstructured text, several techniques developed in research can be made available, to any customer who has unstructured data. Those projects can then be offered at scale as a Cloud offering. Automatically constructing an Ontology from unstructured documents has been attempted in the past (Petros Zerfros et al). However, the use of Deep Learning for the sub problem of Ontology Learning is a recent development (Petrucci et al, 2016). Deep Learning for Entity Typing has been attempted including two papers from us in Summer 2018 (Riddhiman et al, Abhishek et al). Using Distant Supervision and Deep Learning for relationship discovery is being attempted elsewhere in IBM Research (ai-c-177, ai-c-350). We had proposed a embedding approach in an OSCP proposal. In the proposal, we're building on the internship work in Summer 2018, and two ongoing AI Challenges (189 and 325), to propose a novel approach to Ontology Learning.
