Principal Software Engineer
Location: Raleigh-Durham, NC- (Offering Relocation Assistance to those willing to relocate)

IBM's Resiliency Orchestration Product Engineering team is looking for a Principal Software Engineer who will be part of a high-powered technical team responsible for architecting and developing the core modules for enterprise-class disaster recovery and data protection software.


  • Drive the architecture, design, development, integration and delivery of new product features
  • Own and drive the evolution of the product architecture & design
  • Ensure development of a robust, safe, securely accessible, highly available, and highly scalable product that, at the very least, meets customer and end-user expectations.
  • Work closely with product management and the CTO teams to understand product requirements and lead the engineering team's effort to implement the same in the product
  • Work closely with customer support, SQA and other engineering teams to continuously evolve and innovate the enterprise-class recovery planning and automation product towards lower cost of support & service
  • Maintain efficient and effective communication and collaboration with other engineering teams and SQA to manage dependencies and deliverables between various groups and ensure end-to-end integration and quality.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

• At least 12 years of experience in hands-on software development
• At least 8 experience in Java Technologies, Network and SQL programming
• Knowledge in Virtualization, Public/Private Clouds and Data Protection technologies

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Experience in developing products using backup or storage replication technologies
  • Understanding of Disaster Recovery (DR) domain
  • Knowledge and practical experience in Systems/Network/Storage/Performance management products or data centre automation software
  • Knowledge of UI design, RestAPI, SaaS, multi-tenancy, enterprise security
