Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in the area of RF Circuits & Systems to work at the Thomas J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY.
In this role, you will contribute to the development of innovative integrated circuits implemented in deep sub-micron CMOS or BiCMOS technologies. We focus on circuit designs that enable the creation of differentiated solutions for a range of millimeter-wave, RF, and mixed-signal challenges. Key areas of interest include transmitter and receiver circuits operating at frequencies in the range of 20-GHz to 100-GHz, PLL design, custom mixed-signal integrated circuit design, and experience with industry-standard integrated circuit design tools. Further key areas include understanding of and experience with co-integration of analog and digital circuit elements, co-integration of millimeter-wave circuits with antenna-in-package solutions, and board-level implementation of wireless communication and/or radar systems. Familiarity with and experience in mixed-signal design verification, circuit test, over-the-air-test, phased arrays, or implementation of AI and signal processing algorithms are a plus. This job will also entail driving the development of new intellectual property and will require strong collaboration with other members of our design teams.

• Successfully create and communicate technical ideas
Responsibilities will include innovative circuit design, simulation, layout and/or layout oversight, power reduction/optimization, verification, and hardware evaluation.
• Minimum of a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related area is required.
Required Professional and Technical Expertise
- Solid understanding of RFIC circuit design, layout and parasitic extraction techniques 2 years
Expertise in RF IC design in advanced CMOS or advanced SiGe BiCMOS technologies 2 years
Thorough knowledge of Cadence IC design tools and simulators including layout 2 years
Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise
- Ph.D. Degeree in Electrical Engineering
Mixed-signal integrated circuit design in deep submicron technology: 1 year
Mixed analog-digital design and verification: 1 year
Knowledge of wireless transceiver architectures and communication systems 1 year
Knowledge of phased array architectures and components 1 year
Knowledge of EM modeling tools for RF IC design 1 year
Knowledge of programming languages such as C or Python for automated tests
Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills
