Portfolio Offering Manager

Job Description
Offering management position helping to drive strategy for an offering or offering portfolio within the Buy Side financial risk market segment. Contributes to direction and priorities across disciplines to bring offering(s) to market and provides leadership to deliver a world-class offering portfolio on a global basis. Oversees life cycle for a set of offerings, from offering definition to iteration. Supports driving financial results for offering based on key outcome metrics, which include profitable growth of market share in target segment and revenue & profit performance vs. plan. Assist in driving profitability for an offering or offering portfolio.

Leads market, customer, and competitive research and analysis for offering(s) and contributes to POV on segment.

Develops and delivers innovative offerings to market, defining or engaging expert stakeholders to define all offering elements and value proposition including components (e.g., services, offerings, etc.), functionality, UI/UX needs, customer success, digital engagement, APIs, and ecosystem requirements.

Collaborates and influences internal stakeholders to design and deliver innovative capabilities leveraging existing IP or newly acquired assets. Effective and efficient project management, driving pace and effective decision-making with both technical and commercial focus.

Decides on capacity to release within development resource budgets, actively engaging in trade-off discussions between capability and schedule. Negotiates offering contracts with the development teams, drives the cross-functional (and sometimes cross-division or cross-Unit) collaborative efforts to meet offering schedule commitments, and actively manages plan risks associated with commitments. Develops Services strategy (e.g., Consulting, Implementation, Managed Services, Support, Training), including capacity requirements by type and geography.

Sets direction for design, sales, and marketing to plan innovative go-to-market strategies. Determines marketing investment by channel, converts technical positioning into key market messages, and indicates which specific competitors and offerings IBM's messaging and outreach must position against. Designs, organizes and delivers enablement/training to other stakeholders (e.g., sellers).

Monitors follow-through across disciplines and takes action to mitigate risks.

Skills:

Mastery and knowledge related to translating customer needs and buying preferences, market trends and technology capabilities and competitive insights into segment strategy and offering design requirements, and executing on that vision throughout the offering life cycle. Has significant experience developing successful go-to-market strategies that capitalize on emerging techniques (i.e., digital, social, self-serve).

Has or is able to quickly acquire expertise in technical, industry, and LoB/functional domains. Has expert knowledge of offering's capabilities, potential buyers/personas/cohorts, customer buying journeys, and the marketplace. Understands future trends, technologies, and go-to-market strategies and has expert knowledge of competitive offering strengths, weaknesses, and capabilities.

Communication/Negotiation:
Interfaces with all levels of the organization and influences/impacts decisions on offering strategy and direction. Has proven ability to influence agenda of other discipline leaders and work across Units and S&D to develop integrated/composable/digitally-consumable offerings. Leads across disciplines and across the enterprise, influencing key stakeholders and organizations, including executive management, when issues may arise.

Engages client stakeholders on risk management practices and methodology in general, and on specific capabilities delivered through our solutions. Leads client interactions through typical lifecycle steps, e.g., acquisition, ongoing collaboration and service, retention.

Problem Solving:
Solves complex, highly visible business problems with the ability to disaggregate and structure problems with robust business logic, in a manner that allows other stakeholders to assess and align with proposed solution.

Develops high-level business plans and project plans to generate buy-in and organize other stakeholders in problem solving and solution execution.

Contribution/Leadership:
Owns strategy for an offering or offering portfolio within a market segment, often managing complex or emerging offerings where little precedent exists. Sets detailed direction and priorities across disciplines to bring offering(s) to market and provides leadership to deliver a world-class offering portfolio on a global basis. Oversees entire offering life cycle from offering definition to iteration.

Helps drive financial results for offering based on key outcome metrics, which include profitable growth of market share in target segment and revenue & profit performance vs. plan.

Project Management:
Sets pace, discipline and direction across stakeholder groups in all stages of a project, from problem definition, through problem solving, solution design, to execution.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Risk management, both banking and trading book products and various types of financial instruments -3-5 years
  • Expert knowledge in market risk and/or credit risk
  • Experience in enterprise-wide risk aggregation and reporting challenges, processes, platforms and solutions
  • Developing, implementing or presenting Buy-Side risk solutions
  • Understanding of the Asset management, Hedge Fund and Pension Industry
  • Understanding of the Insurance Industry particularly related to Solvency II
  • Portfolio Construction and Optimization
