The Network Administrator is responsible for the deployment, initial technical setup and ongoing maintenance of Vyatta gateways/firewalls, as they relate to the Maximo and TRIRIGA systems under contract with the Cloud Delivery Services team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deploy new servers in a Cloud environment based on Vyatta O/S.
  • Secure network (VLANS, subnets, VPNs, etc.) by developing network access, monitoring, control, evaluation, and maintaining documentation.
  • Configure Vyatta instances to conform with the Cloud Delivery Services standard.
  • Maintain network performance by performing network monitoring, analysis, and performance tuning.
  • Troubleshoot network problems and work with other individuals, teams, or vendor to resolve.
  • Participate in on-call rotation schedule.
  • Assist or lead in the further enhancement of automation tools.
  • Use Service Desk to manage work tickets through the life cycle.
  • Provide feedback and updates to the rest of the team and clients as required on status of tickets.
  • Ability to problem solve and use tools (Internet, Support documentation) to research issues and identify solutions.
  • Monitoring: SNMP monitoring experience of Vyattas, including VPN status, configuration and debugging and other BAI tasks.
  • Vyatta 5400 upgrades
  • Vyatta 5600 experience and migration project experience from Vyatta 5400
  • Networking architect experience also required


Equipment and Applications
PC's, handheld devices, MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word, MS Access, e-mail and other software applications as required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
General office environment, evening and weekend work required on occasion. Will be part of a 24 x 7 on-call rotation schedule - expected to cover 1 week every 4 - 6 weeks depending on team composition.

This role will involve working with technology that is covered by embargo Export Regulations. If you are a Foreign National from any of the following embargoed countries (Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Sudan, and Syria) on a work permit, you are not eligible for employment in this position.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • The candidate will possess a bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering, or computer science, or equivalent experience.
  • This role typically requires three or more years experience in network administration.
  • Strong Linux administration and shell scripting skills required.
  • The candidate will possess excellent communication, presentation, organization and planning skills. As well, excellent interpersonal skills to work as a team member and as a liaison with customers are required.
  • Experience with Vyatta, Linux (Redhat and Ubuntu), Websphere Application Server, Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, Maximo, TRIRIGA, SaaS and Java an asset.


Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Experience in a Production Operational setting supporting systems 24 x 7 an asset.
