Lead DevOps Strategy Consultant

As an IBM Application Architect, you directly help clients transform their business  and solve complex problems. You will define the scope and vision for projects that deliver customized solutions using your knowledge of IBM platforms.  You are a technical leader, serving as a liaison among business partners, technical resources, and project stakeholders.

Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Lead DevOps Strategy Consultant, you will lead the engagement with clients to assess their current software delivery process and drive innovation that will lead to the co-creation of the DevOps Transformation Strategy. The Lead DevOps Strategy Consultant provides the thought leadership that identifies opportunities to accelerate and improve strategic outcomes. You will advise clients on how to strategically change their process to be more effective, deploy automation solutions, build DevOps toolchains, adapt their organizational structure, and change the culture for software delivery. In addition, you will support our client account teams with tailoring solutions and responding to Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and /or Requests for Information (RFI's).

The DevOps Strategy Consultant will work primarily with account teams and GBS partners/ associate partners to propose new solutions to clients. You will work with Senior client executives (C-Suite) and key transformation stakeholders to co-create the DevOps transformation strategy. You will also work closely with other Center of Competency Teams e.g. Cloud, and practice leads for test automation, Agile, security, etc. The DevOps CoC also works closely with the GBS AppOps team, Lab Services, and delivery centers for skilled technical resources and solutions.

You must have experience in leading discussions with Senior Executives on a wide range of topics, anticipate client's wants / needs, and apply thought-leadership to the account transformation strategy. Understanding how to engage people and lead them to contributing in unfamiliar settings is critical to getting to positive outcomes.

Required Professional and Technical Expertise
You must have demonstratable experience in software delivery across all phases of the lifecycle. Hands-on development and testing experience using DevOps tools and principles is a plus. You must also six years of practical experience in both Waterfall and Agile, including activities such as design and readiness reviews, phase gates, sprint planning, and backlog grooming. You should be certified as an IT Specialist, Architect, or Consultant at Thought Leader level.

  • A strong, highly experienced background of overall relevant IT experience
  • Consulting background
  • Demonstratable experience utilizing SAFE/Agile principles in Application Development
  • SDLC processes and management experience
  • Experience leading one or more of the following areas of a Cloud transformation journey: strategy, design, application migration planning and implementation.
  • Proven experience using cloud development platforms from multiple cloud vendors; IBM Cloud, RedHat OpenShift, AWS, Azure, GCP

Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise
  • Platform: packaged software delivery such as SAP, Java/ .NET mainframe development.
  • Technology/ tools: Chef, Ansible, Jenkins, ServiceNow.
  • Collaboration/ facilitation: leading workshops, Design Thinking, MURAL. DevOps, Cloud computing, Security, Automation, Containers, Robotics, Analytics/ AI
  • Previous experience consulting with Software Delivery Lifecycle Open Source Tools
  • Experience with any of the following : CMMI, FDA, GPDR, HIPPA, ISO, FISMA, FIPS, FFEIC
