Job Description

Junior Unix Administrator
The Unix Administrator will deliver services to external customers in line with outsourcing contracts. He will be member of a team of Unix Administrator, who ensure the availability of customer systems and infrastructure, to agreed levels of service, by pro-actively monitoring, maintaining, tuning and upgrading those systems. The role will require working closely with other support teams e.g. middleware, database to provide and support high quality technical solutions.

Day to day activities:

  • administration of Unix systems - AIX; Linux: Red Hat, Suse;
  • system build and configuration
  • troubleshooting and resolving issues
  • patching and hardening
  • IBM Power partitioning and virtualization
  • Linux virtualization on VMWare
  • cooperation with SAN, Storage, Network, Database and Middleware teams in problem determination and resolution
  • implementing security policies for Unix servers
  • performing system backup and restore
  • basic shell scripting to automate tasks

Requirements:
  • working experience and knowledge of administering of Unix systems - AIX; Linux: RedHat, SLES;
  • IBM Power partitioning and virtualisation
  • knowledge of security policies for Unix servers
  • ability to create system backup and perform restore
  • knowledge of networking, network services, TCP/IP
  • understanding of SAN environements and shared storage
  • knowledge of shell scripting
  • Polish and English - fluent (written/spoken)
  • openness to learn new skills
  • readiness to work in a team environment
Type of contract - fixed - term contract for 12 months
