Junior Cobol Developer - Engineering Department

For the Engineering Department at IBM Services in Brussels, we are looking for an junior or medior Cobol developer to work at one of our clients in the financial / banking sector. We love to welcome you to our growing team exposing you to lots of opportunities. I hope you are as excited as we are!

What you will do
You are part of a great project team, which is responsible for the maintenance and changes to an existing application written in Cobol and RPG on IBMi. You make changes to code with regards to new legal or commercial requirements with great attention to quality. In your job, you provide application maintenance and monitoring. You are involved in L3 incident handling and you carry out root cause analysis in case this is necessary.

In this role, you work closely with Project Managers and Analysts at your customer. You take full ownership of the execution of your tasks.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Your passion for Cobol ILE and/or RPG ILE development on the IBMi platform shows in your roughly five years of professional experience with this field. You have experience with various project methodologies, such as Waterfall and Agile.

You are driven, pragmatic, goal-oriented and stress-resistant (early) professional. Analyzing and problem-solving belong to your basic skills. You work in a customer-centric way and you have strong communication skills so you can easily collaborate with your teammates, architects, analysts and other partners. Think of presenting the product you created during a meeting at the clients office, for example. You are an authentic standout colleague who makes a real difference within his or her team.

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Additional experience in the banking sector is a plus.
