IT Management Consultant – IBM Cloud Always On

Job Description
IBM Services is now hiring Experienced lT Management Consultants.

The next time you use your credit or debit card, take out an insurance policy, board a plane or drive your car, chances are you are being served by IBM Services. Our technology services run the infrastructure that powers 80% of the banking industry's daily card transactions, 61% of the automobile industry's production of passenger vehicles and nearly half of mobile connections worldwide. We are experts at managing infrastructure, while being innovators at heart. In recent years, we have built strong capabilities in hybrid cloud and are applying automation and Watson™ - cognitive technologies - to help our clients achieve high performance, end-to-end innovation and exceed business objectives.

We in GTS IS have developed a methodology to help clients go beyond high availability and disaster recovery towards always on business services, based on methods matured within IBM since 1998. This position will help bring these methods to our clients and lead them on the journey.

Our IT Management Consultants use problem solving, issue-based and hypothesis-based methodologies and provide recommendations and solutions to client IT and business executives. They define the business and IT requirements, develop the solutions and participate in their implementation. They help clients envision their future, aligning business and technology designs to create new possibilities, and manage the change with resiliency as the vision is implemented.

Successful candidates will be experienced in: primarily IT Strategy & Design and IT Process & Change. This is a cross-industry role. It works with multiple application architectures, infrastructure platforms, and cloud providers. Candidates will be aware of application modernization, data management practices and IT service management (ITSM).

In addition, the majority of the work will be to help clients create 'always on' business services that achieve 99.999% availability using multiple geographic region methods. Another element is creating independence in operations and technologies across those geographic regions, requiring a working knowledge of IT across people, process and technology. This will be a significant transformation, so this position will lead the effort to assess, design, and guide implementation. These can be multi-year journeys. The successful consultant will serve multiple clients at a time.

These consultants will be expected to participate in sales efforts by ensuring positive outcomes in preparing written proposals, building work-breakdown structures, building cost models and participating in oral presentations of proposals. They will be expected to independently establish client relationships with the ability to sell and close business. They will have a lead role in delivering projects and be able to meet client contractual commitments while managing scope, time and budget. They will demonstrate consulting leadership and influencing skills through their own skills, experiences, and work methods.

They will have full stack business service awareness, meaning they understand systems of engagement (e.g., client facing), and systems of record (e.g., core business information). They will be able to discuss, design and implement from the client's business service (e.g., process) through applications, networks and infrastructure. They will lead the problem solving and solution development using methods and processes, while seeking assistance in difficult situations. They can work independently but also help build the skills of team members through collaboration and mentoring.

Travel expectation is 60% with international travel to major global markets.
