In December 2015 IBM announced the new Watson IoT Global Headquarters and our first ever Watson IoT Client Experience Center. The new headquarters, located in Munich, will bring together researchers, developers and consultants in a "campus" environment to drive collaborative innovation and deeper engagement with clients and partners from around the world. The center will also serve as a lab for data scientists, engineers and programmers to build innovative solutions at the intersection of cognitive computing and the IoT. We are looking for an IBM IoT - Industry Lab - Chemicals & Petroleum Business Consultant
The Chemicals & Petroleum Business Consultant supports Global Industries, Watson IoT BU and Sales & Delivery teams in the coordination of Client workshops and events. The professional is a recognized Subject Matter Expert in Chemicals & Petroleum Products area. She/he will be responsible for the coordination of Design Thinking workshops to help Chemicals & Petroleum Clients define new approaches and solutions that are highly valuable to their business.

She/he will work across the IBM organizations and close to Chemicals & Petroleum Clients to understand and / or help define business requirements and translate these requirements into specifications that will be implemented in Proof of Concepts ("PoCs") and prototypes.

She/he demonstrates the outcomes of PoCs / prototypes to Chemicals & Petroleum Clients. In addition, she/he articulates the business justification in the form of a business case and/or value proposition to justify the adoption of the solution. This professional leads a team to have the work done.
The Chemicals & Petroleum Business Consultant should demonstrate work experience on strategy and business aspects in the major areas of the Chemicals & Petroleum Industry.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Engineering degree, Master desirable
  • Recognized as Subject Matter Expert in the Chemicals & Petroleum Industry
  • More than 10 years of experience in the Chemicals & Petroleum Industry
  • Experience on opportunity identification, requirements definition, design, implementation and deployment of industry solutions and software packages: ERP, SCM, MES, SCADA, etc.
  • Strong Project Management and coordination skills and experience in leading projects
  • Good knowledge of IBM offerings in IoT, Analytics, Mobile and Cloud
  • Strong Consulting skills with experience in projects ranging from strategy, package implementation, systems integration
  • Experience on the construction and evaluation of business cases: for clients and evaluation of market opportunities
  • Knowledge and experience of Design Thinking Methodology
  • Strong team player ready to reach out to colleagues worldwide
  • Capable of working in an environment where things change fast and workload is high
  • English & German: fluent
