The physical security element ensures a safe and secure environment for IBM people and property through a number of measures. The Emergency Planning program provides a means by which IBM ensures its board of directors that every IBM site globally is prepared to manage crises whether they are caused by natural or man-made disasters. Security Specialists develop and provide regular training, and moderate scenario exercises for every IBM Senior Location Executive and their respective Crisis Management Teams. The emergency planning database is also maintained by the Security Specialist.

To meet its overall financial goals, the Security organization relies upon the analysis of financial data to identify actionable items that improve profitability. Assists with capital and operational planning, quarterly forecasting, the design and implementation of profitability models to support the financial mandate and metrics, and benchmarking reports.
