This team is responsible for building runtimes and services to host the cloud management components. This team is also responsible for operating the service 24 x 7 and maintaining the security of all our systems, such as authentication, permissions and handling of sensitive data.

Your Role and Responsibilities
IBM Event streams is a very successful Tier 1 IBM Cloud service running in multiple IBM Cloud Data Centres around the globe and and makes up part of the foundation PaaS services of IBM Cloud. Event Streams is based on Apache Kafka and provides a fast, scalable event streaming service available to customers of IBM Cloud. It also underpins multiple IBM cloud technologies.

We are now looking for enthusiastic Front End Software Developers to join our team.

The Event Streams team has been at the forefront of Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) SW development for the last 4 years; delivering the initial offering and then rapidly scaling out the service to multiple environments worldwide. We operate in a true agile, continuous delivery model utilising the latest tools and technologies. When something isn't working, we fix it, improve it, and then apply the knowledge learnt.

We are looking for candidates to provide a first class User Experience for the Event Streams service. The successful candidates will work in an agile, collaborative environment across software architecture, understanding both front-end and back-end concerns, while specialising in the front-end. They will work closely with designers to take wireframes from conception to implementation and work closely with back-end developers to ensure implemented UI code is unit tested and production-code ready. Code user interfaces, including interactions, responsive layouts, and styling. Use and contribute to the IBM Design System to implement UI's. Ensure user interfaces are accessible and enhance the performance of the application. Will work in programming languages like JavaScript, Node.js or frameworks such as React, Vue or Angular. Skilled in UI development technologies such as HTML, CSS, JSON and API usage.

Candidates should have a strong desire to work within a CI/CD environment and have a passion for embracing new cloud technologies. You need to be collaborative, able to handle responsibility and love learning new techniques and tools. The key requirement is to have a passion for developing a High quality, Highly Available service.


Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Bachelor's in Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant experience
  • Experience of JavaScript UI development frameworks
  • Skilled in automated test techniques for UI development
  • CSS layout techniques and methodologies
  • Capability to work in a global, multicultural and diverse environment
  • Fluent English

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • JEST, Selenium/Cypress
  • REACT test libraries, enzyme
  • GraphQL
  • Carbon Design Language
  • Knowledge of the IBM Cloud ecosystem
