Business Consultant - Role description

In this role you will develop deep expertise in the business aspects of the IBM SPM, and work directly with clients on requirements to develop solutions that improve the lives and wellbeing of their citizens.
As an SPM business consultant, you will advise clients to order to define business drivers and associated IT capabilities with the services required. This often involves working in an agile way to define, document and prioritise requirements, whilst taking into account the associated user research and service design. You will help our clients understand that technology can affect the way they think and see the world. Finally, you will combine your depth of business analysis and consultancy skills to contribute to the successful delivery of Watson Health projects.
Ideally you have a good understanding of case management and associated business processes of government social enterprises. You also have experience of the challenges of implementing a Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) minimizing the level of customization required by a client.

To be successful in this role you need to be passionate about technology, how it can improve outcomes for citizens, and have a proven track record in the delivery of end to end enterprise solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Research, analysis, definition and documentation of customer requirements for the IBM SPM application functionality
  • Analysing the business requirements of our clients and then writing the functional documentation & user stories required by the technical consultants who implement our software
  • Act as the point of contact on-site for business related questions and issues that arise and require clarification
  • Respond to testing queries related to business requirements
  • Act as a focal point for the development team for the implementation of business requirements
  • Uphold the same professional standards and work ethic expected of all our consultancy staff
  • Build a high level of trust and confidence with clients in relation to their knowledge of the business issues at hand and of IBM SPM and the proposed solutions
Duties
  • Educate clients by sharing detailed functional knowledge regarding the IBM SPM product
  • Advise on the functional extensions as necessary to address client specific requirements.
  • Working on site as the IBM SPM functional subject matter expert, giving demonstrations of the software capabilities, performing fit/ gap analysis and advising on the best approach to implementing the IBM SPM product set from a functional perspective.
  • Assist in the determination and documentation of the most effective methodologies and best practice procedures.
  • Hands on business analysis duties including defining and documenting business requirements
  • Elicit, prioritise and document requirements including:
    • Process Flows
    • User Stories
    • Data definitions and/or logical data models
    • Screen design and story boarding
    • QA and test case development
  • To scope Proofs of Concepts (POCs), if necessary with technical support.
  • Lead sprint ceremonies when required.
Skills and Attributes
  • Experience in a business consultant role working for a large information technology consulting firm OR experience working for a public sector agency, in the delivery of information technology related projects for the Social Security and/or Human Services marketplace
  • A comprehensive understanding of case management functionality and associated business processes of government social enterprises
  • A comprehensive understanding of how to implement and customize Commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) social enterprise management (SEM) functionality
  • Proven ability in the areas of written communication and presentation delivery
  • Experience with business process analysis
  • Experience with screen design and storyboarding
  • Experience with quality assurance activities and test case development
  • Ability to lead sprint ceremonies
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to facilitate meetings with clients
  • Solid problem resolution and decision-making skills
