Business Analyst

Job Description

IT Specialists in this job role have expertise in analysis and description of business processes, and their translation into functional and non-functional IT requirements. Business analysts act as the interpreters between the worlds of IT and business. Typical examples of the deliverables are functional and non-functional requirements, use-cases, process models, and impact analysis. IT Specialists in this role primarily apply their technical and business process skills in an internal or external customer billable services and implementation environment. The employee guides functional objectives or technologies.


Professional knowledge related to incumbent's function/business unit and its processes.

Advise other professionals. Effectively utilize group dynamics. Negotiate to define approaches and goals.

Problem Solving:
Recognize complex problems related to functional objectives. Analyze situations and implement solutions, or develop new system elements, procedures or processes. Creativity and judgment applied to developmental work on different projects within the business environment.


Provides ongoing technical /operational guidance to lead professional work teams, conducts special projects, or manages department(s) (national or international). Understand department/ functional mission and vision. Defines and decides objectives within specified business concept or project and may have responsibility for tools and assigned resources. Utilizes expertise to directly influence people outside department or function. Sometimes no precedent exists.

Impact on Business/Scope:

Accountable for department results and for activities and/or projects involving multi-functional teams. Regularly participates in overall functional program planning. Activities are subject to business measurements, impact customer satisfaction, and impact project costs or expenses.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

Interpreter between two worlds - business and IT, bridging the gap of understanding between business and technology teams
Lead the team in Agile ways to successful project deliveries maximizing the value to the stakeholders
Create and agree on documents with formal Acceptance criteria to be used by development teams

  • 5 years of experience working with directly with customers in SW developments in order to agree on requirements and project plans
  • Negotiation skills - ability to manage stakeholder expectations at any level
  • Communication skills - verbal and written, in both business and technical languages
  • Listening skills - ability to listen well to business and IT teams and understand their needs
  • Presentation skills - to business teams and development teams

Preferred Tech and Prof Experience

  • Understanding of Gherkin, Cumber or other Behavior Driven Development languages
  • Experience testing features to ensure the expected outcome is delivered
  • Understanding of User Experience
