The Senior Data Quality/Integrity Engineer understands end-to-end master data processes and flows and uses that knowledge to design and implement master data management solutions. The Senior Data Quality/Integrity Engineer work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors.


The Senior Data Quality/Integrity Engineer provides business process, system support and data quality governance for master data through data coordination and integration to ensure efficient processes and consistent data flows to business and stakeholders. Conducts testing and system validation to troubleshoot issues related to master data management and system. Identifies and implements process improvements in relation to master data processes. Identifies, reviews and evaluates master data management metrics. Recommends ways to strengthen data integrity, quality and availability across the enterprise. Provides training and support on master data process to users. Begins to influence department's strategy. Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and work is performed without direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.

Humana is seeking a Senior Data Quality/Integrity Engineer to facilitate the maintenance and improvement of member clinical quality measure data resources. These data resources are used to assist provider partners in managing member clinical care. You will also provide insights to senior leadership for improving population health performance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop a deep knowledge of Medicare Stars program and quality measures (HEDIS, Patient Safety, others as needed)
  • Consult with customers to understand their data needs and/or business questions
  • Consult with data source providers and IT partners to bring together a deep understanding and ensure the integrity of Stars measure data sources
  • Perform detailed analyses of measure snapshot changes so as to continuously improve measure behavior knowledge and the quality of measure snapshot data
  • Bring measure and data source knowledge to collaborate with others in the continuous improvement of customer data applications
  • Creation and maintenance of automated data checks for Stars measure data sources
  • Exploration and qualification of new data sources and new technologies
  • Maintenance and enhancements for the Online Stars Quality Report application
  • Documentation of processes surrounding data quality and integrity checks

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in any of the following disciplines: Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering, Math, Business or similar fields
  • 1+ years of data mining, manipulation, cleaning and/or technical analysis
  • 1+ years of experience in SQL, SAS, Python, and/or other data systems tools
  • Strong technical understanding of data architecture, data quality and related technologies along with data quality management principles
  • Expertise in assessing complex data sets and performing root cause analysis
  • Familiarity with a data quality, analytics and reporting tools and techniques
  • Advanced Research and Problem-Solving skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office tools(Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint)
  • Experience in communicating insights for both technical and non-technical customers
  • Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences

Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree in a quantitative discipline, such as Mathematics, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • Experience in developing, maintaining, and collecting structured and unstructured data sets for analysis and reporting
  • A passion for improving clinical quality for Humana members and clinical partners
  • Experience with Medicare Advantage or other managed healthcare programs
