This position is posted in the Billings, Montana regional office, but other locations within the region may be taken under consideration.

The Employee Benefits Practice Leader position is critical to the company's ongoing success and efficiency in sales, customer service and marketing. As the Employee Benefits Practice Leader, you're responsible for the strategic oversight of product offerings, implementation, new business development, account retention, and the successful mentoring and development of our Account Executives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leadership accountabilities over sales, client service, underwriting and compliance
  • Provide a vision and growth plan for how the company will remain profitable and how your team will expand its capabilities in group medical, ancillary lines and special programs
  • Promote interdepartmental resource sharing, identify opportunities for cross selling and capitalize on similar association marketing
  • Establish a positive culture dependent on maximizing the strengths of each employee; concentrate on ways to fully integrate all the group life & health team members who work amongst sales, account service, underwriting, compliance and consulting
  • Influence and support customer and prospective relationship development
  • Manage Employee Benefit sales team to identify and close new business activity
  • Manage insurance carrier access and support as needed, along with market relationship development to find new products and services for clients and prospects
  • Ability to engage corporate resources to support departments including sales and marketing, information technology, accounting and finance, human resources, and facilities management
  • Be a member of the regional Executive Leadership Team to identify possible agency acquisitions and support development and planning in the region
  • Support the development and management of department budget and expenses per corporate guidelines
  • Influence and support strategic planning initiatives including producer and personnel development
  • Strategize with Operations Managers to retain business year over year
  • Focus on recruiting and hiring new producers
  • Train all new producers on USI qualifiers and differentiators including talk tracks, value proposition and sales execution
  • Create positive synergy with Property and Casualty practice to encourage two way cross-selling
  • Develop internal resources/experts to assist all producers in closing business
  • Work with Operations Managers to enhance Value Proposition, Stewardship process and Account Management services
  • Assist Regional President in finding and recruiting Acquisition candidates
  • Drive consistent and predictable long term, profitable client relationships
  • Assist in developing sales and marketing strategies along with communications to optimize HUB's position in the marketplace
  • Positively and proactively represent HUB in meetings, seminars, trade shows and networking events
  • Deep knowledge of benefits carriers product and service level differentiation
  • Interacts with primary carrier partners in full coordination with management
  • Helps build and execute annual sales plan including internal training, communications and promotion
  • Manages and monitors performance tracking and metrics for all EB related sales and sales activity
  • Exercises expense control and maximizes revenue and net operating income in compliance with corporate guidelines
  • Ensures continuous development of products and service offerings aligned with identified needs of customers in the market segments
  • Champions the internal and external HUB "brand" and positioning
  • Actively participates in Sales and Segment management on day-to-day basis including field office visits regarding staff development (mentoring), plan execution, training producers, and joint prospect and client sales calls
  • Helps strengthen HUB producer workforce via personal recruiting and coaching

Qualifications

  • At least 10-15 years of progressive group life and health insurance experience; majority must be within an agency, brokerage or consulting firm
  • Demonstrated track record as a Managing Producer, Client Service/Account Executive or Team Leader in developing a consultative sales platform for sales and account management
  • Small EB business experience is a must
  • Be a hands-on manager; enjoys mentoring and direct management of staff; also, desire to work alongside producers in the field helping to originate new business through your personal networks and close accounts in team based sales
  • Can institute effective employee development procedures which address training, processes and procedures, E&O avoidance, continuing education, recruiting, hiring and disciplinary actions
  • Understand ways to distinguish insurance brokerages through customer service, technology and special product offerings, association marketing, client communication strategies and alternative funding programs
  • Must have willingness to partner with other business lines to maximize bottom line to the Mountain Region
  • Proven progressive sales track record in driving new business results
  • A consultative, positive and resourceful approach to dealing with prospect, clients and associates
  • Strong visibility within the HR and benefits community
  • Highly developed organization and time management skills
  • Must be willing to travel between 25-50%
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications
  • Strong degree of self motivation
  • Demonstrated ability to lead/motivate others
  • Is influential and persuasive with the ability to partner across HUB and work well with segment and other practice leaders
  • Proven progressive sales track record in driving new business results
