Summary of Position
The Account Manager-Surety is responsible for delivering excellent and efficient service through day-to-day account management of assigned accounts. The Account Manager - Surety has a direct impact on agency success by achieving client retention goals, effectively and consistently ensuring client satisfaction, and fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, trust, respect and teamwork while focusing on continuous improvement. The Surety Account Manager uses discretion and judgment in determining surety needs for clients and in carrier and client negotiations.
Areas of Responsibility include but are not limited to:
Client and Carrier Relations
Establishes and builds client and carrier relationships; responds to client bond requests, including commercial surety, bid and P&P bond requests, all within time frames required by the client; obtains appropriate information for underwriting and approval; prepares bonds to be issued. Reviews LOA's and addresses issues of final authority; maintains accurate and complete client documentation, including updated financial information; serves as a liaison between clients and carriers to obtain required underwriting information, and to address service issues; collaborates with Producers and/or AM's as needed; assists the Surety Manager to maintain accurate and updated Lines of Authority for all active surety clients; and, continuously looks to identify ways to improve client service.
Renewals are the primary responsibility of the Account Managers. The Surety Account Manager will support all AM's to ensure efficient processing and billing of bonds, and will address renewal issues if required. If remarketing is needed, the Surety Account Manager will consult with the Surety Manager and Producer as needed, to determine submission alternatives.
Billing and Collections
In support of Producers and AM's, contacts clients as needed regarding invoices or outstanding receivables; reviews and helps maintain accounting history, correcting discrepancies as needed ; helps to maintain / maximize agency profitability.
Client and Team Resource
Functions as a high level strategic partner to the client; fosters an environment of problem solving and innovation; identified as the Account Management subject matter expert on surety; works independently to drive account retention; serves as a mentor to new Producers and Account Managers; engages in proactive problem solving with Producers and clients. Proactively uses agency resources and processes in order to create efficiencies, and to encourage others in utilization of these resources as well.
Education Background
Business, Insurance, Marketing, or Finance Bachelor's Degree preferred
High School Diploma required
Active TN P&C License
CISR or other Surety related designations a plus
Working Experience
2-5 years insurance experience; Surety experience a plus Skills & Knowledge
Computer skills (Microsoft Suite of Products, Sagitta, EPIC or similar AMS, etc.)
Understanding of special coverage's and service needs of assigned clients in practice group
