Plastics Procurement Engineer Intern

Plastics Procurement Engineer Intern

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Printing and Personal Systems' Central Direct Procurement Services Mechanicals team that develops and manages a world class supply chain. As a successful candidate you will partner with design and manufacturing partners to innovate and deliver quality parts on time at cost. You will be a member of a technical and business team that:

  • Develops sourcing solutions for custom mechanical designs with a focus on plastic injection molding commodities.
  • Co-develops solutions with R&D
  • Selects, develops, manages suppliers to support a range of business need and production volumes
  • Leads cross functional teams to resolve technical issues across multiple disciplines
  • Optimizes and continuously improves delivery, quality, and cost
  • Protects HP's IP and business interests.

Responsibilities:

Develops portions of engineering solutions to enable designs to be manufactured within HP's World Class Supply chain by utilizing knowledge and established engineering principles of materials and manufacturing processes.

Utilizes and participates in development of analytical tools and models to help improve designs for manufacturability through enabling cost reductions and quality improvements.

Develops understanding of and relationship with internal and outsourced development partners on deployment of mechanical components into the manufacturing environment

Participates as a member of project team of other mechanical hardware engineers and internal and outsourced development partners to develop reliable, cost effective and high quality solutions for low to moderately- complex products.

Education and Experience Required:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Typically 0-2 years experience

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience or understanding 3D CAD software tool.

Understanding of basics of manufacturing processes such as plastics injection mould, metal stamping and forming, and/or additive manufacturing processes

Understanding of design for manufacturability concepts for sheet metal and/or plastic parts and associated production tooling and processes.

Good analytical and problem solving skills.

Good written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.
