Data Architect: Effective and efficient use of data is key to HP's competitiveness. This is particularly true for the services area as this is where most of our customer interactions occur and much of our customer value is created. HP puts high value on being a leader in data management which starts with a well-structured architecture.

The services organization is aggressively pushing the move to digital with data at the core. This position will drive data architecture for the Services organization to support this aggressive move and to align with other functional areas. Industry leadership is the goal.

This future leader will be responsible to:

Establish conceptual subject area data models to classify and group foundational information that is critical to generate customer, product and customer service insights Refine these subject area data models into conceptual entity models and then down to logical and physical models to enable implementation Establish and define the relationships between the data subject areas working with the subject matter experts to align on the model content. Identify and document glossary of terms and concepts appropriate to the subject areas to establish standard common business vocabulary, express strategic data requirements to align with CS (Customer Support) strategy and related business architecture. Influence the CS business architecture to facilitate access and use of this data model Establish standardized, CS common data model. Review proposed model against current system implementations and propose approach to align naming conventions, attributes and data standards to avoid redundancy of data, ensure data quality Work with the system and solution experts to ensure adoption of the entity model and data standards to ensure the data is available for product, customer and customer insights analysis and resulting actions

This leader will collaborate within HP to guide how the data will be stored, consumed, integrated and managed by different data entities and systems, as well as any applications using or processing that data in some way.

Job family definition: Conceptualizes designs, develops, integrates, deploys and maintains the CS conceptual data subject areas, the associated entity, logical and physical data model and data components by applying specialized knowledge of information, data and database management disciplines to provide world-class solutions for customer, product and customer service insights within CS. Ensures organizational and team member success by applying knowledge of high-performance team techniques, coaching techniques, mentoring models and collaboration strategies to work collaboratively as a member of a high-performance team and to provide coaching/ mentoring to other team members as appropriate. Collaborate across business units to enhance knowledge of data engineering capability and information management and to increase intellectual capital by applying knowledge of data engineering management strategies and tools, communities of learning, delivery organizations and knowledge management tools, to contribute to the continuous enhancement and communication of the information management body of knowledge. Develops the data components of application solutions by applying knowledge of service offerings, capabilities, innovation, sales pursuit strategy, and data engineering solutions best practices to collaborate with the solution development team and the client to develop winning solutions that ensure win rates, margins and revenues are improved.

Responsibilities:

Applies deep broad technical knowledge of technology and industry trends to lead development, implementation and maintenance of high risk / critical data solutions in high complexity environments.

Leads the resolution of critical and highly complex data problems for large/ critical/ complex projects.

Elicit review, and validate data requirements, including Meta data, Modelling (Conceptual, Logical, Physical), Data delivery, and Business intelligence.

Designs the data architecture and data integration layers.

Ensures the integration of the data and information components of a solution and the alignment of information resources to the customer support strategies and architectures.

Develops the CS Common Data Model and collaborates with CS Solution Architects in the creation and maintenance of processes and standards for the CS Common Data Model.

Provides Technical Leadership, and use technology trends to:

  • Educate the organization on deriving value and insights from have a consistent common data model aligned to CS business process model
  • Educate the organization on approach and value of data modelling and data governance.
  • Provide expertise and practical insights as part of business and solution architecture reviews
  • Interpret biases among the different technical worlds
  • Enable leadership to make informed decisions
  • Reviews data components of solutions and proposals. Participates in program and technology selection technical reviews. Solve technical issues that junior members of the team are unable to address
