Business Development Manager
This position is within HP's Customer Experience and Portfolio Strategy (CEPS) organization which is responsible for the overall experience enjoyed by our customers on HP's Personal System (PS) devices. As part of its charter, the organization is responsible for developing customer apps and partnering with key third party app developers that amplify the value of HP PCs and mobility products within the Personal Systems Group. In this role, you will be immersed into every aspect of the business development lifecycle from defining the BD strategy to building out a partner pipeline to negotiations. As a member of the Personal Systems' CEPS organization, you will be driving Business Development activities with some of HP's most strategic partners. You will be specifically accountable for identifying and managing HP's strategic partnership around a variety of applications and webservices that will bring a unique value to our customers and help differentiate the personal computing devices. This will include working with Business Operations, Marketing, Product Marketing, Finance, Legal, R&D, and the rest of the management team to ensure that any partnerships and alliances operate to HP's technical specifications and within an agreed upon business model meeting HP financial, legal and quality and experience objectives. You will work closely with the rest of the business development team in ensuring smooth integration of all of our applicable business relationships. You will also operate in close partnership with designated business leads in PS Global Business Units and regions, and other relevant teams on a US and ROW basis to ensure alignment and leverage the WW portfolio as appropriate.
Key Duties: • Identify new partnering opportunities in the software and services space for HP's PC and mobile product portfolio • Drive cross functional teams to desired outcomes in the area of product and technological process advancements • Work with PPS software product management to develop new plans for future products. • Lead the negotiation of mutually acceptable agreements and day to day management of ongoing business relationships. • Lead internal marketing teams to deliver high impact marketing programs and promotions to deliver revenue and execute strategic objectives
Qualifications - Master's (graduate) degree in Business Administration or Marketing or business/ technical field of study . Under graduate degree in a technical field of study is a plus
The Sr. Business Development Manager is a senior-level business development position requiring leadership vision and the ability to generate and close deals, ability to navigate and work with highly strategic partnerships through deep understanding of the current apps and services space as well as HP products and processes.
- 10+ years of professional experience - 6+ years in the industry in business development - Superior communications skills, both written and verbal - Superior business judgment, complex financial modeling and analytical skills - Strong background in contract negotiations and business development - Demonstrated understanding of the internet space, including emerging markets - The successful candidate must have a proven track record of success in developing and executing on new business strategies in complex business environments with Worldwide scope - Business Savvy - When you use an app, you have a pretty good idea of the value that application provides to the customer and how the app developer monetizes the app - Prior work experience in a business development, strategy, management consulting, or finance role - When you hear about a new app or service, your instincts are to download the app or signup for the service - Understanding of various customer acquisition channels and distribution value chain models. Prior work experience working with the world's leading consumer software and technology companies in partnerships roles is a plus.
