Product Manager - Marketplace, Seller Experience

Houzz is seeking a talented product manager to lead the seller-facing platform for our rapidly-growing Marketplace. With over 2M products and 40M monthly unique users, Houzz is already a leading ecommerce destination for home goods, but we’re just getting started. A distributed network of 3rd-party sellers and drop-ship vendors (from small independent craftsmen to large well-known brands) ship directly to Houzz users across the globe. As such, we’re investing heavily in products that drive seller acquisition, performance, and success, all of which ultimately improve the buying experience for our consumers.

In this role, you will work closely with engineering, product, sales and operations, design, and industry marketing teams to build a best-in-class platform for sellers to list and sell products on Houzz. Additionally, you will be responsible for the fulfillment process and identifying new areas to improve seller performance (reduce ship times, eliminate order defects, etc.) and optimize the supply chain.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with product, engineering, design, and sales & operations teams to create and manage the roadmap for our seller-facing platform/experience
  • With the engineering and design teams, manage timelines and frequent product iterations
  • Be the voice of all sellers (large or small) to make Houzz a meaningful channel for them
  • Build the products used by sellers and vendors to streamline the way they create listings and process orders
  • Use data-driven analysis to identify key areas in our supply chain where we can reduce costs (such as shipping), improve seller performance, and drive overall customer happiness; quantifiably improve the “physical experience” that customers have when buying on Houzz
  • Conceive of and drive new strategic approaches to speed up order fulfillment
  • Find new channel partners that can accelerate seller and vendor acquisition
  • Clearly articulate product strategy with a wide range of people, internal and external
  • Leverage research, feedback, and interviews to understand the needs of sellers to shape product features and direction
  • Work closely with our marketing teams to craft messaging and educational materials for product launches
  • Help scale all of the above to our international markets

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Software engineering background required (CS degree and/or deep programming experience)
  • A minimum of 4+ years of experience in Product Management at a consumer internet company with a strong track record of successful, impactful product launches
  • No specific domain expertise in ecommerce is required (although, it’s a plus); we’re looking for smart, driven self-starters who can learn quickly
  • Strongly data-driven and technical: you have the ability to collect and analyze data from a variety of sources to identify key insights, spot optimization opportunities, and inform product decisions
  • A keen business acumen; you can build relationships with key internal stakeholders and external partners, understand how to manage a P&L, and negotiate agreements
  • The ability to work across multiple technology stacks and can understand deep technical issues that arise
  • Extremely detail-oriented; you believe that a great product is the sum of an inordinate number of small, thoughtful decisions
  • An innate ability to manage many projects in parallel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills to drive projects to completion
