Product Manager - Marketplace, Consumer Experience

Houzz is seeking a user-centric product manager to shape the experience of how consumers find and purchase products on our rapidly-growing Marketplace. With over 2M products and 40M monthly unique users, Houzz is already a leading ecommerce destination for home goods, but we’re just getting started. Shopping for the home is uniquely different than other product categories, both on mobile and the web, and we’re looking for a consumer-focused product leader to define and drive this experience. We want to make Houzz the best place to buy home products.

In this role, you will work closely with engineering, product, design, data analytics, and customer service teams to rethink the consumer buying experience and optimize existing purchase flows and interactions. Additionally, you’ll be responsible for building new product features that attract new buyers, drive customer satisfaction, and improve the efficiency of our post-sales processes.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and design to create and manage the roadmap for our consumer-facing shopping experience (pre- and post-sales), both on web and mobile
  • Collaborate with the engineering and design teams to manage timelines and frequent product iterations
  • Be the voice of consumers to think about how to design unique shopping experiences for different categories of products on Houzz
  • Create new growth channels to attract users of the core Houzz product (inspiration photos, ideabooks) to shop
  • Use data-driven analysis to identify key improvements and experiments to optimize the conversion funnel
  • Introduce new methods to merchandise products on Houzz
  • Make our consumer email strategy more effective
  • Work with our customer service teams to build product features that make post-sales customer interactions delightful
  • Leverage user research to understand the needs of consumers
  • Clearly articulate product strategy with a wide range of internal teams
  • Help scale all of the above to our international markets

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Software engineering background required (CS degree and/or deep programming experience)
  • A minimum of 4+ years of experience in Product Management at a consumer internet company with a proven track record of successful, consumer-facing product launches that touch millions of users
  • No specific domain expertise in ecommerce is required (although, it’s a plus); we’re looking for smart, driven self-starters who can learn quickly
  • Strong consumer product instincts
  • A fundamentally user-centric approach to product iteration with innate design sense
  • Strongly data-driven and technical: you have the ability to collect and analyze data from a variety of sources to identify key insights, spot optimization opportunities, and inform product decisions
  • The ability to work across multiple technology stacks and can understand deep technical issues that arise
  • Extremely detail-oriented; you believe that a great product is the sum of an inordinate number of small, thoughtful decisions
  • An innate ability to manage many projects in parallel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills to drive projects to completion
