Head of Analytics

Houzz is seeking a seasoned leader in analytics to further our growth efforts with actionable insights.

In this role you will help the product team to understand the health of the business, find growth levers and identify opportunities for optimization.  This role will include growing and leading our team of world class analysts as well as getting your hands dirty solving hard analytical problems.  As the leader of analytics this role will require you to touch all aspects of our business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the analytics team in creating high quality analysis for all aspects of our business
  • Hire and continue to build a world class data science team
  • Define metrics that track engagement across our site and apps
  • Work with senior leadership to establish corporate goals for user engagement and growth
  • Drive the performance of current and new product initiatives by leveraging appropriate statistical techniques and infrastructure
  • Establish a clear and transparent framework for evaluating the business impact for changes made to site experience
  • Work with data infrastructure / back-end peers to define the data collection needs for future work

Required Skills & Experience

  • Education in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics/Math/Engineering; MS or PhD required
  • Demonstrated achievements in analytics/data science at prior jobs; will have done analysis that was critical to driving top line growth
  • Have provided leadership through analytics to Product Teams
  • Experienced in performing analytics for user behavior on consumer web and/or mobile applications
  • Ability to write complex SQL queries is desirable
  • Understanding of A/B testing and experiment design
  • Experience identifying key metrics that measure and drive long term health of a product
  • Excellent ability to distill and communicate findings
  • Hands on experience with modern distributed data technologies is desirable (Hadoop, Hive, Impala, Teradata, etc)
  • Experience with marketplaces or e-commerce preferred
  • Overall 8+ years experience with analytics preferred, including 3+ years leading analytics for a large organization
