Finance & Operations Assistant - International

Houzz International is looking for an Operations Assistant to join the London office and support our fast growing international operations. Houzz is the largest community of homeowners and design professionals in the world and, in May 2016, won "Best App" at Google's inaugural Play Awards with "User experience and high star ratings" among the factors considered by Google's panel. You’ll be joining a rapidly expanding team on a mission to grow Houzz internationally.

In this role you will provide varied and dedicated support to the international finance and people services functions as well as providing wider support to the London office management team. The ideal candidate for this role will have previous bookkeeping experience (AAT qualification desired but not essential), experience in a relevant role or have recently graduated (preferably a business or finance related degree). In line with our startup culture, it is imperative that any candidate has a willingness to work and assist outside their direct responsibilities and can ably demonstrate an ability to work proactively using their initiative in every area of their role.

Our brand new UK office is located between Angel and King's Cross in a hip, modern, comfortable environment designed to reflect our culture. For a successful candidate who is able to demonstrate and apply the qualities this position requires, this will undoubtedly be a role in which there will be opportunity for development in terms of scope and responsibility.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and / or track record of work experience in relevant role
  • Previous bookkeeping or financial administration experience; AAT qualification a plus
  • Experience or exposure to payroll administration and employee onboarding/offboarding processes
  • Phenomenal attention to detail, conscientious and thorough with strong problem solving ability
  • Able to work to deadlines and multitask, and be tenacious enough to see tasks through to completion
  • Excellent numerical and analytical ability as well as verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to take on duties outside of your direct remit – with our startup culture and the nature of the team, you will find yourself working with demands and ad-hoc duties that require a positive and proactive approach
  • Strong track record of performance with proven success
  • Warm, confident and positive approach to work

Responsibilities:

  • Support in the management and processing of supplier invoices as well as resolving supplier queries
  • Carry out efficient & timely coding and reporting for accounts
  • Prepare financial journal entries and assist in the processing and management of corporate expenses
  • Gathering quarterly invoices for VAT returns/CC journals and reporting
  • Help administer employee onboarding and the associated administrative processes including collection of employee documents and updating HRIS system
  • Provide calendar management and coordination support for the recruitment team
  • Support the wider Finance and People Services team in various projects and initiatives as well as with other accounting duties as needed.
  • Support Office Management tasks as needed as a part of the wider operations team
