Finance Manager - International

Houzz International is looking for Finance Manager to join the London office and support our fast growing International operations. Houzz is the largest community of homeowners and design professionals in the world and, in May 2016, won "Best App" at Google's inaugural Play Awards with "User experience and high star ratings" among the factors considered by Google's panel. You’ll be joining a rapidly expanding team on a mission to grow Houzz internationally.

In this role you will take a lead in designing and implementing processes to support the growth of our revenue channels, improving internal reporting and ensuring company compliance across our international operations. You will take full responsibility for the day to day management of various finance deliverables and will work with our international teams around the world to ensure financial accounting, expenses, invoicing, and reconciliation are carried out accurately and on time.  You will be required to frequently liaise with, and manage, our third party accountancy provider as well as communicating with our Finance team in Palo Alto, California.

The ideal candidate for this role will have highly relevant post qualification industry experience (although not required it would be advantageous if this were in an international e-commerce environment). In line with our startup culture, it is imperative that any candidate has a willingness to work and assist outside their direct responsibilities and can ably demonstrate an ability to work proactively using their initiative in every area of their role.

Responsibilites

  • Development of the finance team's functional processes and internal controls
  • Take a lead role in the design and implementation of end to end processes to improve the overall efficiency of our international accounting practices
  • Management reporting (daily, weekly, monthly and ad hoc basis) to international finance lead and partner with the US finance team with regards to intracompany accounting and reporting on a regular basis
  • Perform detailed reviews & variance analysis of Management Accounts across our international business
  • Management of statutory reporting and taxation
  • Review of material transactions and risk management
  • Relationship management with service providers, including facilities / building management company, credit cards, payroll administrators, etc.
  • Assist in the management and processing of supplier invoices as well as resolving supplier queries
  • Ensuring efficient & timely coding and reporting
  • Assist with other accounting duties as needed to support the growth of the team and business
  • Support financial planning (budget and forecast) and budgetary control

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or above, preferably finance related
  • Qualified CIMA / ACA / ACCA with relevant additional post-qualification industry experience
  • International / Intra-Community (EU) VAT reporting as well as knowledge of import / export documentation; a strong plus if that experience was within an e-commerce environment
  • Exposure to or experience in US GAAP reporting
  • Experience in processing in multiple currencies and foreign exchange
  • Excel ‘Ninja’ that has mastered Vlookups, Pivot Tables, Index, Match and the more complex capabilities of Excel; other technical / database management skills (tableau / SQL) a plus
  • Proven track record of performance in finance or related role with record of success and achievement, ideally in fast paced or start-up like environment
  • System, process and operational change management within a growing organisation
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and communication skills
  • Self-motivated and able to provide evidence of strong intellectual ability, superior work-ethic and drive to succeed in an ever changing environment
  • Willingness to take on duties outside of your direct remit – with our startup culture and the nature of the team, you will find yourself working with demands and ad-hoc duties that require a positive and proactive approach
  • Able to work to deadlines and multitask, and be tenacious enough to see tasks through to completion
