Senior Revenue Accountant

HotelTonight makes it remarkably easy to book great hotels at amazing last-minute rates on your mobile device, for tonight, tomorrow and next week. Our mission is to make people feel more alive by delivering the unexpected and we’re looking for a Senior Revenue Accountant to help do just that.

As a Senior Revenue Accountant on the Finance team, you'll build optimized processes to support scaling for future growth. You like big challenges, and the ability to have a direct impact on the growth of an organization is exactly the challenge you're craving. You're maniacal about the details and love bringing efficiency and process to all you do. You pick things up quickly, and as soon as you see a problem, you see a way to fix it. You like working on small teams, where you get to work on new and exciting stuff all the time and learn from everyone around you.

  • Own the transactional level reconciliation between HotelTonight’s internal bookings database and our 3rd party credit card processors (this includes optimizing processes)
  • Build/launch an automated solution to reconcile transactional level data
  • Manage monthly bookings and revenue reporting including preparing revenue related reconciliations and reporting schedules
  • Partner directly with the Controller and cross functional teams like Product, Engineering, Customer Experience and Operations
  • Perform other revenue related month-end close activities like recording contra revenue, revenue reserves and sales tax accruals
  • Implement new changes to revenue GAAP standards
  • Record revenue related journal entries and manage g/l account structure
  • Be the point of contact for internal inquiries about customer payment issues (inbound payments)
  • Support audit process including preparing working papers, schedules and addressing inquiries
  • Assist in IPO readiness preparation and tackle challenging ad-hoc projects

  • CPA or equivalent
  • 3-6 years relevant experience with Big 4 background (1-2 years of industry experience a plus!)
  • Bachelor’s degree, with a focus in Finance or Accounting
  • Working knowledge of US revenue GAAP
  • Experience navigating large data sets
  • Expert in Excel. Proficiency with SQL a plus.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Proven success in fast-paced, rapidly-changing environments

  • A highly collaborative and supportive team environment that values asking the right questions, building solutions, and respecting everyone we work with
  • We aren’t afraid to take risks, and we encourage you let go of the fear of failure and give that crazy but brilliant idea a shot
  • We’ll help you create goals that drive you, take on projects that excite you, and learn things that will surprise you
  • The opportunity to help shape and scale a company that is building something disruptive
  • Great SF office location at 5th and Market and a beautiful workspace
  • Excellent health, dental, vision and 401k plans - and stock options, too
  • Fun stuff - Quarterly travel stipend, unlimited vacation, catered meals daily, a subsidized fitness membership, access to our very own hotel-inspired full bar, and the opportunity to spin the HT Roulette wheel to spontaneously win airfare and a hotel stay anywhere in the world!
