Data Solutions Analyst (12 month Contract)

Vancouver, Canada

We’re looking for a Data Solutions Analyst to be an ambassador for data across the organization and translate between those that build the data solutions and the analytical talent embedded across departments that leverage data to build insights. You’ll be working on uncovering how data should be leveraged in a holistic manner within an organization to promote pragmatic applications of data to meet business needs.

The successful candidate will be working on the Data Central team under the Director, Business & Product Insights and Data Analytics, where our focus is empowering Hootsuite with data to build a data-informed culture.

  • Engage with data stewards across the organization to understand their needs with data and translate that into a defined data model where it can be leveraged holistically in our data warehouse/lake.
  • Partner with the data development team to work through implementing data assets that will uncover new insights for our internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with various levels of stakeholders to gather requirements and use cases related to data needs and communicate requirements to the data development team.
  • Investigate, identify and liaise with the data developers to help monitor our data integrity from our data pipelines, integrations and systems.
  • Onboard analysts and data champions onto our data platform so they are able to leverage the solution’s capabilities and data most effectively.
  • Liaise and contribute to cross-departmental projects to ensure that anything related to data needs are considered and brought back to the Data Central team.
  • Promote data literacy at various organization levels to increase the correct use of data for operational reporting, dashboards and predictive analytics.

 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • Significant relevant experience in data analytics and/or business analytics and a degree in Computer Science or Business Analytics or an equivalent level of experience
  • Proficient in Structured Query Language (SQL) in any dialect but PostgreSQL is highly leveraged.
  • Proficient in either R or Python in developing scalable and reproducible analyses
  • Proficient in Tableau, Qlik or other analytical platforms
  • Experience with developing and maintaining documentation that helps to provide clarity on how data is utilized, transformed, stored and accessible through such things like data dictionaries, metadata catalogs and onboarding documents.
  • Management of stakeholders when concerns of data come up across the data flow and liaise with the right groups/individuals to rectify issues with data quality, integrity, and availability.
  • Adept at developing presentations that foremost considers the audience’s needs and are able to break down complex concepts to allow for better dissemination of the content.
  • Ability to run effective meetings with a diverse group of perspectives and achieve tangible action items that drives how data will aid in the project/initiative.
  • Familiarity with data pipelines/ETLs and working knowledge in data warehouse/lake approaches in storing structured and unstructured data sets.
  • Highly motivated in empowering the entire business with data and driven to find ways to improve inefficient use of data.
