Project Manager, Tax

The Expedia Tax Team seeks a highly-motivated, intelligent and enthusiastic Tax Project Manager to manage a large and diverse portfolio of special projects,and facilitate the progress of these projects from intake through delivery of requirements, testing, implementation, and formal closeout. The Tax Project Manager will be based in Austin, TX, and will report to the Director of the Tax Project Management Team (Tax PM) .
 
General Responsibilities
-       Manage Tax Initiatives and represent the Tax team as a single point of contact in end-to-end Business Projects,  while working with cross-functional teams
-       Assist with developing and/or refining business objectives,project scope, and timelines with a tax perspective
-       Establish strategic, tactical and risk-mitigation plans; assign and track work; support cross-functional project team from a tax perspective to deliver stated business objectives/goals
-       Track and communicate project updates to Tax team stakeholders
-       Work with Tax stakeholders and project teams to define requirements, communicate needs to technology teams, coordinate Tax UAT, and monitor and report progress and implementation activities
-       Support the overall tax workload management process and deliverables (Tax Project Portfolio), including regular status updates to Tax Team leaders
-       Contribute to process and technology improvements and implementation for the workload management process
-       Liaise with our business and other stakeholders to baseline project requirements and timing needs, and gather required information for project intake and assessment
-       Enable the Tax Team to identify, organize, and resolve project issues
-       Coordinate with tax team to understand reporting needs in order to plan and implement meaningful reports from Tax Project Portfolio data that support team needs
Required Skills
-       Ability to communicate effectively at all levels, from individual contributor to executive management and across the organization– structuring information and utilizing PowerPoint or other resources to communicate various approaches, methodologies, framework, ideas and actions
-       Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced, matrixed environment with minimal supervision
-       Ability to make independent decisions and to be a self-starter in an ambiguous environment and to bring structure and solution solving ability while also being detailed and task oriented
-       Ability to formulate strategies and develop initiatives to achieve excellence
-       Ability to think strategically and conceptually and maintain focus
-       Comfortable working across multiple lines of business environments; able to gather requirements; and become a liaison between the Tax organization and cross-functional teams
Qualifications
-       Minimum of 6+ years hands-on project management or other relevant experience
-       At least a Bachelor’s degree, preferred in Tax,Accounting, or Finance
-       Experience with Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint,SharePoint, and other commonly used software tools
Preferred,but not required
-       Experience in a Tax, Finance, or Accounting project manager role
-       Experience in a company in the travel, technology, and/ore-commerce industry
-       Project management credentials such as a PMI certification
-       Consulting experience a plus
