HR Chief of Staff

HomeAway seeks a Chief of Staff to assist with planning, strategy, and operational execution for the HR function. This new role will bring leverage to the function; instilling new operational planning procedures and leading strategic initiatives while also working with the senior HR team to continue integration with Expedia’s HR tools and practices.  


  • Implement 120 day planning cadence and own the planning calendar
  • Support team meetings and forums
  • Act as an adviser to the VP of HR and senior HR management team
  • Coordinate the execution of strategic initiatives
  • Facilitate the capability building objectives of the function 
  • Assess and report on initiatives in addition to highlighting roadblocks
  • Ensure strong communication across the HR team as well as between functions
  • Some travel will be required (<30%)


  • Experience managing stakeholders in a collaborative, cross-functional project setting environment with or without direct reporting relationships
  • Excellent Program/Project Management and facilitation skills
  • Prior success with translating vision & strategy to executable plans
  • Ability to quickly establish trust & credibility with various stakeholders and drive accountability to achieve outlined goals
  • Strong presentation skills 
  • Effective at communicating information and ideas which speak to different audiences
  • Comfortable with a transparent culture including delivery of direct feedback to various levels in the organization
  • A high tolerance for ambiguity and the ability to drive to action despite incomplete information
  • Experience in marketplace/internet companies strongly preferred
  • Experience in Human Resources functional roles is a plus 
  • Experience in travel and/or vacation rentals a plus
