The Role: Email Designer/Developer

HomeAway is seeking an Email Designer to join the Global Creative Studio to support our Marketing Automation Team and our growing email programs. This global position is based in Austin and will work directly with marketing teams spanning HomeAway’s entire brand portfolio, including 20+ brands across and multiple geographies. 


-Design engaging and effective email templates consistent with HomeAway’s brand standards and creative guidelines.

-Build, QA, and deliver HTML templates; ensure all creative assets are optimized for delivery and performance.

-Design, develop, and code new, mobile-optimized templates to support new content as needed.

-Set up all supporting campaign assets: text files, landing pages, source code/discount uploads, tracking links, and other related assets.  

-Troubleshoot display, rendering, and delivery issues (across various browsers, clients, devices).

-Manage a “library” of email designs so content is accessible company-wide.

-Support development of new email campaigns, programs, and processes.

-Maintain awareness of email and marketing trends and make recommendations on optimization tactics and best practices.

-Work effectively in a fast-paced environment where multi-tasking is an absolute must. 


-Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Information Design, Digital Media Design or other visual arts.

-At least 3 years of e-mail marketing and/or web production experience.

-Responsive design perspective with a mobile first mentality.

-Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (with extensive knowledge of Photoshop and Dreamweaver).

-Strong knowledge and experience designing for and coding HTML.

-Basic understanding of standards-driven CSS and JavaScript.

-Strong web asset production, interactive design and typography skills with an understanding of web design best practices pertaining to e-commerce.

-Should be well versed in the limitations of e-mail clients and how to design attractive and effective e-mails within those constraints. 

-Experience in Eloqua or Marketo a plus.
