Hitachi Energy, High Voltage Products, is renowned worldwide as a specialist for power transmission and distribution. Our unit Gas Insulated Switchgears (GIS), based in Zürich-Oerlikon, is active in the development and production of gas insulated switching systems. We ensure the high reliability of our systems by using state-of-the-art development tools and methods.For our business unit High Voltage Products in Zürich-Oerlikon we are looking for a a Project Manager Steel Engineering. In this challenging position you will be responsible for technical project management in close cooperation with our project team in the Czech Republic. Thereby you will support in all project phases and lead technical meetings with internal and external customers. You have completed your studies as a civil engineer and already have first relevant professional experience in the field of steel construction? You enjoy working in an intercultural working environment and have leadership qualities and assertiveness, also in dealing with virtual teams? Then we have the right challenge for you!

Your responsibilities

  • Technical project management in the area of steel structures as well as support in all project phases starting with sales via design and production of the steel structures up to the completion of the on-site assembly
  • Technical and commercial responsibility for technical project execution in compliance with the relevant standards and adherence to project targets in terms of deadlines, costs and material objectives
  • Elaboration of project requirements taking into account current standards in close cooperation with sales, project management, project engineering and the customer
  • Leading technical meetings, providing technical advice and working out solutions with sales, project engineering and customers
  • Interface from our GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear) project engineering to scaffold engineering
  • Leading the engineering activities of the engineering team in Brno (Czech Republic) and Chennai (India), as well as external partners
  • Initiation via our supply chain management for the creation of the steel structures and fabrication of the steel scaffolds
  • Responsibility for the interfaces buildings, steel structures, GIS with focus on construction details as well as participation in the creation and modification as well as further development of directives, templates, checklists and tools

Your background

  • Bachelor or Master in civil engineering
  • Experience in steel construction and knowledge of GIS
  • Structural analysis program knowledge (e.g. scia engineer)
  • CAD (3D and 2D-Auto-CAD, Tekla) knowledge
  • Knowledge of EC, AISC and Building codes desirable
  • Experience with SAP advantageous
  • Very good knowledge of English is required other languages advantageous
  • Good communication (written and spoken)
  • Good communication and organizational skills and experience in inter-cultural cooperation
