Virtualization Engineer

JOBSUMMARY:

  • *2 year working experience inUnix Server System and network related administration with acceptableknowledge { TCP/IP protocol, NTP, Hosts, DNS & DHCP, NIS,Telnet, Rlogin, FTP }
  • Good understanding and working experience in Virtualization(VMware/Hyper V etc) Administration, File System Management and Logical VolumeManager (LVM) and RAID concepts
  • Working experience in clustersmanagement in Virtualization Server environments
  • Cloud technology and conceptunderstanding – Good to have
  • Working experience in installing Softwareand Operating Systems patches – Good to have
  • Working experience in basic databaseadministration, like start-up and shutdown of databases, shrinking databasetransaction logs – Good to have
  • Trained or working experiencein backup solution ( HP Data Protector or HP Omniback or Veritas Netbackup) – Good to have
  • Trained or working experiencein other Unix flavours beside HPUX ( Linux, Sun Solaris, AIX, Tru64 ) – Good tohave
  • Trained or working experiencein Unix related software ( MPCM, Control-M, E-Trust or Autosecure) – Good tohave
  • Knowledge of HP ITO and HPOpenview monitoring– Good to have
  • Good communication and customerservice skills and the ability and desire to work in a collaborative teamenvironment.

Profile:

  • Certified Unix Administrator ( HPUX, AIX, Linux or Sun Solaris ) – Good to have
  • HP Certified HPUX SNA 1 and/or SNA 2 – Good to have
  • Bachelors Degree in any discipline – Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in IT
  • Diploma in IT – Minimum of 3 years relevant experience in IT

Responsibilities & Activities:

  • Incident management – work on incidents elevated from CC
  • Problem management – trigger problem management (create problem tickets) – e.g. through observation of trends.
  • Change management – routine change execution for (mostly, though not limited to) low risk, low impact changes from TS-B
  • Operations management – EDN, log and dispatch, scripted routine/scheduled tasks (e.g. routine checks), standard documented requests (e.g. backup/restore), service request administration (if necessary).

Core Competency:

  • ITIL 3 Foundation
  • VCP3 and above
  • MS Hyper V R2
  • Blade Experience – Good to have
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to work in a team, able to work independently if necessary.
  • Ability to work in a high pressure environment
  • Ability to work in shifts for 24×7 coverage
