Description

As a firmware validation engineer at HP you will perform validation on firmware deliverables for innovative products and solutions and help deliver industry leading technologies and products. The position requires ability to learn and understand new products and technologies, develop and execute test plans, develop test code and identify process improvements, manage test progress against schedules, report test status and milestones, and collaborate with internal and external teams to assist with the resolution of issues. The ideal candidate for this position will have background in both software and hardware and desire to validate firmware that interfaces with operating systems, hardware components, and other firmware. The successful candidate must be team-oriented, be innovative, possess a strong work ethic, be a self-starter, be quality conscious, and have excellent communication and technical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review requirements, specifications, and product designs to develop and execute complete test plans, protocols, and documentation for assigned projects. Identify, debug, document and help create solutions for issues.
  • Collaborate and communicate with management, internal, and outsourced development partners regarding system firmware status, project progress, and issue resolution.
  • Interact with hardware, software development teams and Quality Assurance groups to help design and develop determine coding, programming, and integration activities required based on general objectives and knowledge of overall architecture of product or solution.
  • Represent the firmware validation team for all phases of development projects.

Education

  • Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.

Experience and knowledge

  • Programming skills in C, C++. Python a plus.
  • 2 year experience with firmware testing methodology, including writing and execution of test plans, debugging, and testing scripts and tools.
  • Knowledge of computer architecture.
  • Knowledge of OS architecture.
  • Knowledge of UEFI architecture and UEFI Shell.
  • Knowledge of industry standards including PCI/PCI-express, SAS, USB, ACPI, IPMI, and SMBIOS.
