Storage / SAN Infrastructure Engineer

The Level 2 HP IT Engineer is responsible for driving technical designs and implementations to maintain and innovate HPE’s infrastructure SAN (Storage) environments. Maintaining high levels of customer service and satisfaction through technical and functional support to HPE ES supported SAN Systems is a must. This position is also responsible for providing some system administration and engineering support for HPE ES supported infrastructure in the 24×7 operational environment.

Soft skills:

  • Must be willing to work in shift coverage on a weekend shift schedule. Coverage within region is provided on a 12×7 basis
  • Good analytical skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills are needed
  • Fluency in written and oral communication in English is required
  • Team player able to collaborate and co-operate with teammates, partners, and customers around the globe
  • Demonstrate keen interest in continuous learning and professional development
  • Business acumen; understanding of 24×7 mission critical enterprise computing environments and the impact of service disruption to the business
  • Proactive; ability to research and investigate solutions from knowledge base articles, vendor support sites, support documentation and reference materials

Must have skills:

  • At least 2-3 years in administration of storage technologies (3PAR, SAN topology and methodologies)
  • Experience with server administration of server platforms such as MS Windows, Linux, or HPUX operating systems
  • Working knowledge of remote access tools (e.g., PCAnywhere, VNC, Terminal Server, Putty, Citrix, RDP, etc.) and any out-of-band management tools

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, alternative Engineering degree, or equivalent
  • Experience with SAN topology and methodologies
  • Minimum of 3 years of technical experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Certification in OS or Storage technology (e.g., Microsoft Certified System Administrator, Certified UNIX Administrator, Linux Certification, HP Data Protector Certification, etc.)
  • Experience in performance monitoring, issue analysis
  • Experience in RfC design and implementation
  • Knowledge of ITIL
  • Experience in managing tape hardware (standalone tape drives or tape libraries)
  • Experience in storage management (SAN) in UNIX environments
  • Working experience in cluster management – HP ServiceGuard or Veritas Cluster
  • Knowledge in virtualization technology – VMware
